At 28, we unlock Consecrated Path and can start utilizing the Ancestral Bond keystone passive and link Consecrated Path to Earthbreaker, giving us our primary damage skill for the build. Up until level 28, our priority is leveling up the gems we can acquire (use your weapon swap to level up gems you don't otherwise have room for) and taking passives on the tree to help solve problems we're having. If you're comfortable with leveling, you may not need to take any % Life passives. If you do need them, that's fine. Ideally you need very few % Life passives in comparison to damage-related passives. One option I tried recently is leveling as Shield Crash. It's a nice defensive option and has built-in clear. Our main priority is watching shields as they drop for evasion, armor, or both. The damage scales off of the values on the shield, so local mods that add to the armor/evasion on the shield itself are what we're looking for there. Otherwise, our gem setup is pretty simple. By the beginning of Act 3, I'm flying through with: Shield Crush-Melee Physical Damage-Added Fire Damage Ancestral Protector-Ruthless-Melee Physical Damage Leap Slam Herald of Ash, Precision (for 100% hit chance) Gems we want to be leveling are Earthbreaker Support and Faster Attacks. If you can get your hands on Elemental Focus, Elemental Damage with Attacks, Combustion, Culling Strike, Enduring Cry, Molten Shell, and Assassin's Mark by Act 3 (through friends or people in chat or people in my Discord), that'd be good. You might be gated by currency drops - don't stress too much. In Act 3 you may want to do the Library quest for Fire Penetration. The nice thing about this tree is that the damage nodes we might pick up for Shield Crush are all along the normal route we take anyway for our final tree, so we're not needing more regrets than we get from Quests. So when we're able to get a BLS, we can switch over to Ancestral Bond and swap out our melee damage nodes for the Strength attribute cluster and other high-value nodes on the our final tree. Post-Shield-Crush (See additional passive tree) Priority here is getting ourselves set up for our Iron Will + Crown of Eyes combination at level 69 after acquiring Brutus' Lead Sprinkler and switching over to Consecrated Path + Earthbreaker totems. Notice the Mastery passives we're taking as there are a few of them. They're all important and can all be obtained before we hit 69. If you can obtain some jewels for our jewel sockets here, go ahead and do that. You may or may not be able to right off the bat. If you can't, pick up extra life nodes - you'll be in maps before hitting 69, so extra life nodes never hurts to keep us alive. Because we're dealing passive damage, so long as we live, we'll always continue leveling. Gear-wise, your priority is a corrupted 6 link that has the color combination we want. For a number of leagues now, corrupted 6 links are relatively common. The stats on it don't really matter at first - a 6 link outweighs everything else in terms of power- spikes. Worry about getting a "good" 6 link later on. Set up a Live-Search on the trade site for a Shield with "# TO MAXIMUM NUMBER OF SUMMONED TOTEMS" mod. Like our corrupted 6 link chest, we don't care what other stats the shield has. We care about the power spike this one mod gives us. If you can manage to find one of these items with decent stats, fantastic, but don't let a "bad" chest or shield keep you from picking one up. For our Ascendancies, in order: Tukohama's Ramako Hinekora Tasalio This is the way I do things. You can grab Tasalio after Ramako if you feel you need it. I choose the damage nodes over all else because of the Totem play style - we can hide and let the Totems take care of things while we dodge. Combat Loop For general killing, this build does well with 3 Consecrated Path totems and one cast of Ancestral Protector (this will summon 2 totems). The Consecrated Path totems will slam through enemies and have a fairly large trigger radius, so you may find them following you around from pack to pack for some parts of the map. When up against a boss or mobs that really need to die, throw down 2 Consecrated Path, 1 Ancestral Warchief, and one cast of Ancestral Protector. This'll give you a 2-1-2 setup and is worth doing. The Warchief has a very large melee attack radius. When you really need to make a point, throw down 1 Consecrated Path, 2 Vaal Ancestral Warchief, and 2 Ancestral Protectors. Don't forget to toss Assassin's Mark on the big mob, too. Oh, and Vaal Haste. That'll really burn down the barn. If you want increased damage and increased clear speed for tougher maps, throw down 1 Conc Path, 2 Vaal Warchiefs, and 2 Protectors. Vaal Ancestral Warchief totems as they have an ENORMOUS aggro range and attack range since they leap around the map. Make sure to keep Protector totems down for them as their attack speed is a bit slow without them. Auras I keep Blood and Sand on Blood Stance and we don't use Haste - only Vaal Haste. Easy peasy! Damage Numbers Full DPS numbers is assuming a Vaal Ancestral Warchief, 2 Conc. Path totems and 2 Protector Totems - and that all of them are hitting the target. If you have a highly-mobile target, consider instead using 3 Conc. Totems with 2 Protectors. This will give the Conc. Totems the attack speed they need to stay on target. Special Note Patch 3.20 (Forbidden Sanctum): We've learned how Combustion works - it only applies -resist if the skill applying the largest ignite is the one that Combustion is linked to. So for our build, for now, I'm putting Combustion on both Ancestral Protector and Warchief to ensure it's up all the time. I'll continue updating the PoB as I playtest it.
