Hi all!
There's been some concerns (and contention) about me labeling the budget PoB as "tanky" and I wanted to address those concerns as well as provide an example of what the build can look like on the high end without Original Sin and Expedition's End.
I believe that eHP and Phys Max hit are drastically over-emphasized in importance for [Softcore] build evaluation in Path of Exile. As someone who primarily plays ES/Evasion based characters it always looks quite bad because PoB doesn't take into account having evasion (for phys hit) or Ghost Shrouds (at all) in these calculations. In addition, soft defensive layers like permanently chilling and freezing multiple screens of enemies also cannot be accounted for.
These numbers are helpful to folks that fully understand a build for evaluating build changes but actively harmful to folks that just download PoBs without watching the build guide and understanding how the build works.
Anyway, to provide an example for the concerns yesterday I spent this morning making a Hardcore-ish version of the build. It has nearly 6k life, max suppression, 34k armour, solid recovery, reduced extra crit damage, 54% evasion, reduced effect of shock and curses. Toss in Progenesis if you want to become nearly immortal. All of this still maintaining over 30 million DPS.
For my personal bias this is EXTREME overkill in Softcore and I'd rather run Haste and die about once every 20-30 maps but go fast. All of this was addressed in the original build guide with options provided but...you can only lead an Exile to a guide, you can't make them watch it.
Anyway, I hope this helps out folks that want GIGA THICC TANKY and still good damage and something aspirational to shoot for. Thank you to everyone who is trying out and enjoying this build. <3
