TLDR T16 Harbie example (terrible quality my computer bad): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aS2FLDUzC9g
TLDR What to expect:
- Extremely zoomy one-button map blaster
- 11M base DPS that scales extremely well with HH buffs cause base-phys damage
- Huge Berserk uptime from Chainbreaker (and all that entails)
- Not tanky but not made of paper either
- Ideal for T16 8mod blasting. I think if I had the money to swap to a Radiant Faith forbidden gem setup it'd also feel good in T17s, but for now I wouldn't recommend it for the typical T17 B2B farms
So like the tens of us out there that got excited when this gem was revealed, I set out to actually try and make it work. As far as I can tell, no one has figured out a way to get explosion overlaps. That combo'd with only ever firing one proj, most folks figured this thing was DoA.
Despite all this, after league start I kept watching the price of HH crater and thought "there's gotta be a way to make this thing serviceable". Dear reader, I am happy to announce that it is at least serviceable. Going ballistas is how you get around only one proj, as that would feel terrible without totem auto-aim. HH is how we really scale the damage to absurd levels. The defensive suite is limited, but not criminally ignored:
- 7k+ ES thanks to Hiero mana/int stack combo
- 80 max res from flasks (we're mapping here, just assume flasks are always up !!!)
- CI
- Around 1k ES regen
- The handful of HH buffs that still help
- Cold convert for tons of chill/freeze
- Berserk!! With insane uptime!
Tbh, the swap to Chainbreaker is what really made this build start clicking. Berserk makes everything feel better, and Hiero mana stacking can benefit a ton here. It's not universally applicable to Hiero builds obv (MoM can't use it nor can Archmage builds really), but Ballista hiero doesn't really need their mana even when mana stacking. Aside from the obvious damage/tank Berserk provides, the extra movespeed is insane. I zip around maps faster than maybe any other build I've played with Berserk, HH, flask, and Onslaught.
I won't claim that this is the best way to build this thing (I do think a Radiant Faith setup running determination could get way more tank without sacrificing too much damage), but this one feels pretty good for what I wanna do. Oh an one wrinkle I should mention - since I don't have my totem cost fully reduced to 0 mana, I do occasionally run out of mana and have to get tagged a couple times to recoup and get things going again. Usually the mana mastery for "recover 10% when you use a skill" keeps things humming along though.
