► Yooooooooo, Exiles!
Here's an endgame showcase of my decently min-maxed Chimera Spirit Walker.
This is my new take on my original Elephant IL build. After a successful Monkey league start, I made it my mission to challenge the monkey supremacy.
The core of the build is Xilozoma, the Maw-Beast, aka the Chimera, transformed into a walking inferno through Infernal Legion (Catha's Brilliance). It ignites and melts everything nearby, scaling damage off the Chimera's life pool.
Now, the Chimera doesn't have particularly impressive life values. What it does have, however, is a collection of absurd modifiers that make it an incredible Infernal Legion carrier.
First, Xilozoma comes with 200% increased elemental ailment magnitude. That's essentially triple Ignite damage right out of the gate.
On top of that, it has a generic "Gain 25% of Damage as Extra Damage of a Random Element" modifier which we can enable to ignite. Combine that with the various Azmeri Spirit buffs, "gain as extra cold/chaos" nodes on the passive tree, the new sceptre augment that grants companions extra damage as a random element, and the latest minion mods available on rings and belts... you can probably see where this is going.
The damage is absolutely filthy.
In fact, it surpasses the pre-nerf, pre-bugfix Malice Infernal Legion Elephant setup and the build isn't even finished yet. On paper, I could still double the damage from where it currently stands.

► Current ingame PoB: https://pobb.in/FGwlM6PgHS98
(PoB does not support the jewel sockets added via Voices +. Zarokh's Gift. Beast HP = 130k/
Boar has Haste + All Damage Shocks)
► The Perfect Beast
Our goal is to make every source of "Gain X% of Damage as Extra Damage of an Element" contribute to Ignite damage. This includes modifiers from the passive tree, the sceptre augment, Azmeri Possession buffs, rare monster modifiers, and more.
Because of that, the single most valuable modifier you can get on Xilozoma is:
"All Damage Ignites."
This is the one modifier you absolutely want at some point.
► What About AoE mod?
For a monster to roll Increased Area of Effect as a rare monster modifier, it must have the AoE tag. You can verify this on PoEDB. For example, the Elephant Tortoise has the tag and can roll the modifier.
None of the unique boss beasts have the AoE tag, however, which means you cannot tame a boss beast with the Increased Area of Effect modifier. It simply does not exist.
To compensate, we stack AoE from other sources. The passive tree alone provides a substantial amount, and with the new sources of AoE plus AoE on belts, we're only about 15% AoE behind a pre-0.5 Elephant with the AoE modifier.
The new jewel crafting system closes that gap completely.
I'm currently running 10 Diamond Jewels with triple prefixes and "Minions have increased Area of Effect", which allows the build to comfortably surpass old Elephant AoE levels.
As an added bonus, the extra radius makes Sacred Unity effectively screen-wide.
► Playstyle
Bind your beast to Weapon Set 1 and disable it on Weapon Set 2.
Weapon swapping will instantly reposition your companion, allowing you to drop several tons of angry Chimera directly onto enemies whenever needed.
For bossing and heavy single-target encounters:
-
Cast Elemental Weakness
-
Apply Frost Bomb
-
Use Spearfield to aggravate the Ignite
► How to Craft the Jewels
Buy Diamond Jewels with:
Minions have increased Area of Effect + (1 of the following)
-
Minion Life
-
Minion Damage
-
Companion Life
-
Companion Damage
Use Potent Liquid Contempt to hit +1 Prefix (50/50).
Desecrate a Prefix.
Use Omens of Echoes/Light + Annuls to repeatedly reroll the desecrated modifier until it becomes another desirable Minion or Companion Life/Damage Prefix.
Use Omen of Dextral Annulment to remove the crafted +1 Prefix modifier.
Apply Potent Liquid Ferocity. Since we have 3 prefix slots occupied, this can only hit the suffix.
Divine the jewel until you're satisfied with the rolls.

► How to get a Chimera with Mods
Xilozoma does not naturally spawn in maps.
The most reliable way to obtain a modded Chimera is through Summoning Circles, ideally in City biomes.
Recommended setup:
4 Tablets with +1 Rare Modifier for Uniques
Additional Summoning Circles/chance wherever possible
At least one should be a Ritual Tablet
When you get lucky and Xilozoma spawns from a Summoning Circle, do not kill it immediately.
Instead, drag it into a Ritual encounter and kill it inside the Ritual area. Once you've done this, future Rituals gain a chance to spawn Xilozoma. Each appearance rerolls its modifiers.
