[POE 3.22] Deadeye Cold Convert Spectral Throw League Start Guide! Comprehensive Week One Guide

I wanted to take a minute and express why I wanted to play and build Spectral Throw: I saw a streamer playing it as Dex Stacking https://www.twitch.tv/giswa_hsu he answered a ton of questions about the build and made me really excited to eventually make it a build in 3.22. While I was dead set on league starting toxic rain I needed to create some twitch content so I was like let me just TRY IT AND SEE. So I created my character and went in. I had fun....like a lot of fun....like way to much fun and I was hooked. Like insta hooked so I wanted to play it and I did it. Big shoutout to Giswa_Hsu for showing me the build, Turtle for listening to all my crazy ideas trying to put it together, Goan for yelling at me to play vendom gyro, MY BOY HADO WHO SAID YEPCOCK A LOT. THERE ARE MULTIPLE GEAR SECTIONS FOR THE ACTS AND MAPS - PRE AND POST CLUSTER MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THEM --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ************************NOTES FOR CONFIGURATION SECTION************************************************** 1) We did not check "Monsters are frozen" because we didnt always freeze bosses, so that would be padding dps :) BUT NOTE IF YOUR MAPPING KEKW you can check this box to see your damage 2) We did not check the intimitate enemy box because I did not know if/when you will have the armour stated in the pob or if you even got the correct variant. I dont know maybe you bought the snake one for reasons? So if you have the armour click on that. 3) We do indeed always have power charges from Tornado linked to Power Charge on Crit and the Cluster when we get it so you can keep that on during a boss fight 4) We always have frenzy charges during a boss fight, thank you mark mastery. 5) I put the chill and shock chances low based on what the calculations section told me. We do indeed chill and shock ACTUALLY EVERYTHING 6) Flask are not currently checked because they wont always be up during a boss fight, go click them check the dps while mapping! 7) The projectile travel distance is an estimation on how far you are. IF YOU STAND ON TOP OF THE BOSS YOU DO NO DAMAGE SO KEEP SOME DISTANCE. The further you are the better but I assumed it to be 30, you can set it to 15 if you want to be conservative. 8) Dont even bother clicking and checking uber dps its non existant. This is not made for uber bosses. It can and has done every other boss in the game. NOTE I DID THE EATER AND EXARCH INVITATIONS WHITE. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ******************************************* HOW TO CRAFT OUR END GAME CLAW PRE DEX STACKING ********************************************* Option 1 - Find a claw that already has a fracture on it, early league this might be expensive. Ideally you would want to have fractured on % physical damage, If you can get merciless get merciless. If you have obtained a phys fracture claw proceed below - Step 1) Buy Fractured % phys claw Step 2) Use Deafeaning Essence of Contempt for Flat Phys Step 3) Open Prefix???? Step 4) No open prefix , YOLO ANNNNUL BABY Step 5) Open prefix!!!!! and Open suffix???? Step 6) No open suffix???? A) We had trinity in the original setup of the build. But in further testing we noticed we never had enough damage to freeze a map boss or pinnacle boss. This resulted in Trinity being a dead link in our 6 link. There is a world though were we can get a better claw, overall stronger gear, awakened and alt quality gems and actually hit a lot harder. The build has really good potential to scale. Once that happens we can swap gems around for trinity. But in a day 1/2 - week 1 build it will be a lot harder for builds to hit that threshhold for trinity. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) You have so little mana, do I have enough for all of my skills A) Make sure you have the right skills setup with the correct gear. Before you get -non channeling rings you want to make sure you dont over level your precision. Also you want to really push to -mana rings as fast as possible as they make Spectral Throw ALMOST FREE. Lastly pay close attention to the gem levels and links. Lifetap on certain things is important for a reason (so you can cast your mark without worry). Also note that you keep your arcanist brand level 1 and frost bomb level 1. You really dont need to level these. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Why do I need to start scion??????? A) You want to start Scion so that you can mule prismatic burst! Your damage really doesnt come online without it until level 8 and you get to the jail. When you get to the jail you immediatly go back to down, grab LMP and Added cold. Thank Prismatic burst for its time and ship it to the great beyond dont forget to give it 2 coins for the ferryman. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) First time poe player here! Lucifinas my name! How are you! I um.....dont have scion.....this is my first league and first character ever..... now what? A) You can actually create a duelist if you want. Get the duelist to hillok, kill him, get to town and mule chance to bleed. It might not be as good as prismatic burst but its an option. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) I dont want to mule anything, I just want to create a ranger and go! What do I do? A) You dont need to mule anything you can just make a ranger and start. You can buy Spectral Throw right away , it wont feel as good without supports. Momentum is ok..... I guess? I dont know I dont personally like it (Note this doesnt make it bad just not a choice for me). Ranger though very quickly unlocks , Chance to Bleed, Chance to Poison and some other really cool stuff to aid you until the jail cell. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) You keep mentioning the jail why is this important again? A) Once you get to the jail you instantly unlock Lesser Multiple Projectiles and Added Cold Damage so you want to go get them right away --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) What Colors are important??? A) G-G-G --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Why LMP over Volley? A) I didnt personally like the way the skill worked with volley. I felt that LMP had a better coverage. I suggest you try both skills out yourself and see which you like more! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Why invest the time to make all these q and a's knowing most people wont read it? A) Because that one lunatic that actually reads it is going to have a really nice time following the build. A) Helm - Sniper's Mark curse Effect Gloves - Commandment of Reflection when hit Boots - Damage Penetrates Enemey Resistances --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) What kind of defense layers am I working with and why is my EHP so low A) We have suppresion, res, some dodge, a prayer, jesus and A LOT OF LIFE LEECH LIKE A TON. LIKE A WHOLE FRIGEN LOG. If you dont just get 1 shot by the grace of the moon you will just insta leech everything back. You would be suprissed how much of a hit you can actually take with good giga leech. ALSO IN THE WORDS OF A CHRONIC PAINLESS KINDA GUY THE BEST DEFENSE IS A GOOD FREEZEFENCE! HOW THEY GONNNA HIT US WHEN THEY ALL FROZEN BABY BLAP BLAP --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) What map mods should I avoid? A) REFLECT!!!! BAD!!! NO TOUCHY!!!! CHANCE TO AVOID AILMENT!!!! BAD!!! NO TOUCHY!!!! We can indeed run no leech and no regen maps just fine. If you have issues with mana replace any flask with a mana flask but you should have no issues --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Why do you use this body armour? Isnt a rare hunter chestplate better? A) We use this for a week one scenario cause it does everything we need. Give us evasion, life, damage, crit and a cool little pet to up our dps by a lot! (well like not a lot a lot but its free dps so its alot shh it tanks things) You can read more about the armour and rhoa here - https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Summon_Bestial_Rhoa Tl;DR - The summoned Rhoa can use a charge attack, and has an aura that intimidates nearby enemies. Like the other bestial minions, the Rhoa's hits cannot be evaded. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Is there anything I should be looking for specifically on this armour any of the rolls important? A) The armour as three types actually! You get a bunch of different beast and pets that come with it. So you should take note of that! The one you want is the little Rhoa dude as he has intimidate! And sometimes take all the aggros and is pretty hard to kill actually! IN THEORY THESE SHOULD BE CHEAP AND IN THEORY THESE SHOULD EXIST AS DROPS AND IT MIGHT BE EASY TO GET A COOL DOUBLE CORRUPTED ONE :). If they spike in spike in price for the touble corrupt and you get a little angry, my bad blade that mike guy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Whos mike? A) You already know. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Why do you have a basic belt and not a stygian with a jewel? A) Day 1-2 there might not be a lot of stygians on the market I went with something more generic and approachable. Stygians will always be better but when I did my ssf I never found one so I just kinda used whatever I had and it worked so I imported that belt cause it was sweet. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) What does this build excel in farming in and what can I target farm with it???? A) Not bosses :) - This is a pure mapping strategy designed to blast to the moon kamamamahahaha style. Feel free to try out the following: EVERYTHING YOU WOULD EVER DECIDE TO LOVE AND DO IN A MAP CAUSE IMMA BLAST (except legion I dont got explosions for that....) BUT I LIKE LEGION SO I TOOK THE NEW NODE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) How do we apply shock? Also Why are we shocking? Is that what the Yoke of Suffering is for and is it important? A) You need some form of flat lightning damage so that you can shock the enemies for the cluster jewel. Thanks to Twitch Chat and the Wiki we found out that the following: Shock has to be applied by a minimum amount of damage to be inflicted. If we attempt to add in flat lightning damage on a piece of gear we would just have not enough for it to be relevant. As it stood with testing / current gear before updates we only had a 2% shock effect on pinacles and that was pretty poor. While we want to ONLY JUST BE ABLE TO INFLICT SHOCK to get the effects from our cluster. We still need to have a shock % above 5 so that it if applied to bosses for damage! Anything under 5% would be discarded and not applied. The cluster in reference is the one with Stormrider and Astonishing Afflicition give us a ton of damage and a second way to generate power charges. Since we have yoke of suffering we solve all our appling ailment issues. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) How important is the annoint on the amulet do I need it right away? A) Do you like more damage? Do you want more damage? You DO NOT need it right away, other items are bigger upgrades first. Feel free to get it when you think its right. Odds are you will keep Yoke of Suffering for a long time until you are ready to swap to Dex Stacking or change how you are building this. So it is a safe annoint. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Why is the Damage WORSE when I swap to the clusters and heatshiver setup? A) Did you check the box that says "Enemies are chilled" and "Enemies are Frozen" - The box for ENEMIES ARE FROZEN is innately unchecked because you will not be freezing most bosses so you will lose out on that DPS. We want to keep the POB realistic as people will look this over and want to know how it does both as a bosser and a mapper. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Can I boss with this? A) In early league setup Day 1/2 and Cluster setup I cleared all the bosses outside of ubers but I planned to play it as a pure mapper/blighter and other fun stuff. If you invest in this character and begin to convert it to its GIGABRAIN HIGHER TIER FORM THE ULTIMATE SHAPER CLAW DEX STACKING TO THE MOON BABY KAMAMAMAMAHAAH BLAST VEGA SLAM OVER 90000000000 form you will just insta kill ubers ***usually***. Subjective to how much you invest. See question about investing mirrors to the moon. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) I am level 90 and dont know what to do halp! A) You should really be aiming to get to the cluster setup as fast as humanly possible! Getting to 90 and swapping is fine but you should do this asap it will help. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Why are you using leper alms as your shield A) Until you change your chest / boots / shield this is a quick and easy answer to ailment "cleansing" outside of things like shocked ground. The idea behind the shield is it reflects the ailments you inflict, in this case shock and chill. Other options for shield are located in the dropdown on the shield. You can click on leper alm and check out some other options --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Still asking about the shield.....is it actually good or am I getting baited? What was your reasoning to using this versus a rare shield in early league start? A) I grabbed the shield because it SHOULD BE (League pending , market pending, video pending) answer to a lot of issues without looking for a rare. I attempted to find items that could solve interesting problems with the build to allow me to blast asap. Ideally I am using the shield so that I can just go through the atlas at the speed of caffeine hooked into my veins without thinking about things like HOW TO FIX MY AILMENTS OH GOD NO PURITY OF ELEMENTS. Ideally rares will always surpass these janky ass uniques and as I type this twitch chat is malding about why I havent made a new shield yet. So yeah its coming I promise. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Speaking of purity of elements what the heck where is it??? A) You never really needed it. You just kinda blasted. Its the first time in a long time I never equiped it , didnt think about it and just kinda zoomed. Even throughout the acts I never felt like I needed life nodes or anything. Claws just super carried. Even when I set this pob up in beta and let some of my friends test it they literally said "I DIDNT TAKE YOUR POOPY LIFE NODES MORE DAMAGE" the true softcore mentality. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Is this build hardcore viable? Im a huge Deedle Fan you know the SSF HC twitch guy. I wanna blast and be him but with this and your a softcore andy. Like how I do? A) You CAN PLAY THIS AS HARDCORE SSF DEEDLE FRIENDLY :). You will want to take more life/evasion nodes and some armour. Also purity of elements will be your friend. Lastly you want to figure out how to fit in Grace/Determination/Defiance banner - Mostly you just drop your damage nodes, upgrade your weapons, overlevel the area and just blast. I did a few test originally in HC SSF to see how far it could go. I did eventually die in mid tier yellow maps after completing a red map and going back to yellows to build a map pool. But I blame my death on a 14 hour long sessions cause I do not have the stamina of a young buck anymore. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q)You have a dagger mastery and dagger wheel why? A) The wheel gives us an extra 40% to elusive effect and also gives us culling strike. Since all of our attack crit we always cull. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Why does my damage feel bad in the acts? A) Have you upgraded your weapon since leaving the beach? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) How much does positioning matter for dps? https://youtu.be/ht_RzP9SZo8 - Time stamp 3min 40 second A) If you check the vod video I go over how positioning works for the skill, ideally you want spectral throw to hit at the end of its duration to maximize dps --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Your league starter is cool! When do I swap to crit claw, hatred cold convert? A) I made the swap in testing when I had two things, 1) a 250+ Physical DPS claw and 2) Hrimsorrow for full convert --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) How far can this build scale? A) Many mirrors high to the moon --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Why cant this do ubers? Can this do ubers? I want to do ubers? HOW COME THIS CANT DO UBERS RIGHT AWAY? WHERES MY UBER DPS REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE A) Can you farm divines? How come you dont have divines yet? HELLO MANY MIRROR HERE , YES NOW I DO UBER? Its like a wise guitar once said or was a holic I dont remember but "We shall slay many a uber, once and only once we have the courage to hold the mirror for she is the lake to my kalandra. The bird to my moon, the reflection of WTF DID THAT LORE ACTUALLY TELL US? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) How come we use daggers versus other weapon type? A) The dagger nodes give us a ton of utility and quality of life, they also allow us to get really strong early leach, attack speed, crit and just overall are solid weapon choice. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Do you plan on going Dex stacking? A) Possibly! My first plan is to get a headhunter -> mageblood then go from there --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Can this blight? A) Very well --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Can this do Expedition well? A) Very well --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) My damage fell off when I got to red maps, how do I fix this? A) Have you made the swap to cold convert off of an ele claw? Full cold conversion makes mapping pretty easy. Check to make sure your claw goes over 250+ Physical DPS when I hit red maps in SSF I did all content on a 250 claw, when I upgraded to 300+ you really feel a massive difference, same for testing a 400+ dps claw. I added a big boy claw in the item section and post cluster setup --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) What order should I buy my uniques in? A) I like getting a Good Phys claw first if you want something thats unique right away you can get Bloodseeker Hellions Paw this is a good starting claw until you get a nice rare claw. After this I would aim for Hrimsorrow to go full convert then save up for Heatshiver. You dont need heatshiver right away to get both of your voidstones. I cleared Eater and Exarch on a 310 dps claw on stream. Just need to position properly fights took me about 3-5 minutes. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) Why are we not using hits cant be evaded as our third prefix? A) Aisling Pen is infinitely better until never, its just better. :) I thought originally it was a third phys mod would be better and we can grab hybrid phys but I was shown otherwise. Pen is just BIS. I have extra claws with this mod in the item section to showcase the difference in DPS if you want to try equiping them. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) How important is the Alt quality gem? When do I need it? A) I cleared all the content in SSF minus ubers without the alt quality gem, it helps with DPS A LOT because it fixes a lot of the projectile speed issue. Do you need it right away? No. But do you want it....absolutely. I dont think we need it at VAAL Divergent but it could be cool to mess with. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q) How important is the power charge on crit setup with tornado and arcanist brand. A) It gives you power charges to kick your crit up and up your damage a lot. Ideally you want to use Tornado as soon as possible to increase DPS.
