A few people have been talking about the potential of ephemeral edge, trying to work around the low attack speed. One way to not care about attack speed is to do ignite build. This has several big more multipliers, a decently fun playstyle if you don't mind slow slamming, big aoe from elementalist and huge tanky potential from a fat ES pool. It also scales very well with gear.
Warning: super slow attacking melee build, certainly not for everyone (it might even just be unplayable).

This pob is a fairly realistic day 3-4 version with 9k energy shield, 1.8mil ignite dps. There is no eldritch implicits, influenced mods or cluster jewels. Capping res should be easy with mostly rare gear.
I haven't made a min maxed version but I'm sure this has some real potential if you enjoy the playstyle, I would estimate 15k es and 5 mil+ignite should be attainable end of week 1.
Because we're scaling a high lifepool we can (probably) get away with less mitigation (atleast when you have really good gear and around 15k es I think is possible). We scale recover using wicked ward (scales with gear with "faster start" and recharge rate) and 5% es on block with 75/75 glancing blows. With clusters you can go for endurance charge generation as well.
There's probably a few other things to increase damage I can't think of.
