Artborne's Notes

ONE BUTTON FLAMEBLAST - QUICK START NOTES 1) ANCIENT RESERVE - UNDYING HATE JEWEL This is the most important part of the build. - Ancient Reserve grants +1 Cooldown Use, making our one-button Flameblast setup possible. - It can appear as the 3rd or 4th Desecrated modifier on Undying Hate. - You'll need to craft Undying Hate jewels using Preserved Craniums. Be careful, each additional Desecration can destroy the jewel. - Always use Omen of Abyssal Echoes when revealing the modifier you're targeting. It gives you another chance to find Ancient Reserve. - In a previous league, I got mine on the second attempt. This league, it took nine attempts. So yeah, crafting this thing is basically gambling. IMPORTANT: Ancient Reserve requires at least 100 Tribute to activate. That's why I've allocated extra passives around the jewel. Undying Hate also provides some useful transformed notables that PoB doesn't currently display properly, including: - Additional maximum Energy Shield at the cost of Energy Shield Recharge Rate. The downside isn't a big issue for this setup. - Increased Magnitude of Damaging Ailments. - Other useful bonuses depending on the rolled notables. 2) SPLIT PERSONALITY Split Personality is another important jewel. It allows us to allocate passives from the Witch/Sorceress starting area instead of travelling all the way from Gemling. This saves roughly 15 passive points that would otherwise be wasted on travel nodes. 3) STACK COOLDOWN RECOVERY EVERYWHERE Our main priority is getting as much Cooldown Recovery Rate as possible. Check the following sources: - Amulet and belt - aim for high CDR rolls. - Grip of Kulemak - ideally two rings with CDR, if available. - Helmet - Quipolatl's Soul Core of Flow. - Focus - use Owl Idols for additional CDR. A three-socket Focus is a great option. - Boots - another source of CDR. Mine are far from perfect, so there's room for improvement. - Cooldown Recovery support gem and available passive tree nodes. MEGALOMANIAC: Another way to compensate for missing CDR is using a Megalomaniac jewel with one of the Cooldown Recovery notables located farther away on the passive tree. This can save you several passive points and help make up for missing CDR on your gear. ABOUT GRIP OF KULEMAK: The CDR modifier was previously associated with Amanamu during the Vessel of Kulemak encounter. However, I'm not sure whether it's still obtainable on newly generated rings in the current league, so double-check before investing heavily into farming it. If you can't get the rings, you'll lose some CDR, but you can compensate with better rolls on other gear, additional Focus sockets, improved boots or a suitable Megalomaniac. 4) DAMAGE & AILMENT THRESHOLD - VERY IMPORTANT! Thanks to Gemling's quality scaling, we can reach around 500-700% More Damaging Ailment Magnitude at 10 Flameblast stages, depending on how much quality we have. However, there's one important catch. Your initial Flameblast hit still needs to be strong enough to overcome the enemy's ailment threshold. All that extra magnitude won't help much if you can't apply a proper ignite in the first place. This becomes especially important against rare monsters and heavily juiced content. If you notice that enemies are only getting something like 50% Flammability instead of your expected result, that's a good sign your initial hit might not be strong enough for the content you're running. A few things you can try: - Replace an Area of Effect support with something that increases your actual hit damage. - Prioritize more raw Flameblast damage rather than additional coverage. - Try easier maps until your character is better geared. Remember, the goal is to reliably apply strong ignites with your first Flameblast, not to repeatedly cast it on the same enemy. I can comfortably run 200% Delirious maps with pretty much any modifiers, but that doesn't mean you should jump straight into them. If your Flameblast damage is significantly lower than mine, start with less demanding content and work your way up. 5) MAPPING TIPS & DANGEROUS MODIFIERS The biggest advantage of this setup is that you don't need to stop and prepare multiple spells before every pack. The idea isn't to cast Flameblast on three or four enemies at a time. You want to run into larger packs, hit as many enemies as possible with one Flameblast, and keep moving while the ignites finish them off. That's also why Temporal Chains is so important. It makes aggressive mapping much more comfortable. One map modifier I'd strongly recommend avoiding: REDUCED COOLDOWN RECOVERY RATE It's probably the most annoying modifier for this particular setup. You can still complete maps with it, but you'll need to use Flameblast much more carefully and manage your available cooldown uses. It's doable, just noticeably slower and less comfortable. If you're not in the mood for a challenge, simply skip it. 6) SPIRIT, TEMPORAL CHAINS & OPTIONAL SKILLS The good news is that this build doesn't require much Spirit. Temporal Chains is by far the most important skill to reserve Spirit for. It gives us much more breathing room while moving into packs and casting Flameblast. If you have enough additional Spirit, you can consider running a second curse, but it's not mandatory. I also experimented with Cast on Ignite triggering Comets. It looks pretty cool, but in practice, the Comets were mostly finishing off enemies that were already ignited and would have died anyway. Sometimes they even made the gameplay a little more annoying. So while you can absolutely run that setup for fun, I wouldn't consider it necessary or particularly beneficial. 7) IS THIS BUILD WORTH IT? This is mainly an expensive end-of-league experiment, not something I'd recommend as a league starter. Depending on the market and your luck with crafting Undying Hate, the setup can cost around 400-700 Divines. My previous Flameblast builds were significantly cheaper and stronger overall, but they weren't one-button builds. That's the trade-off here. We're sacrificing some damage and spending a ridiculous amount of currency to make Flameblast much more comfortable to play. And honestly, there's also something satisfying about bringing back that old PoE 1 Flameblast feeling. If you're looking for a more practical and affordable Gemling setup, check out my previous guides on the channel.
