Hey guys! Wanted to try to make an Explosive Concoction build, but I like fancy stuff, so I wanted to spice it up a bit and include other stuff as well. This started out as a minion-based build but I soon came to realize that mixing up too much stuff isn't getting me anywhere so I dropped it. Anyway, the basis of the build lies in the fact that Explosive Concoction relies on flasks to work so what I wanted to do here is create a build that will rely mostly on flasks to do its work.
I thought that the build could maybe work as Pathfinder, but the Pathfinder ascendancy isn't very convenient for what I wanted to do so I went with Scion with Pathfinder as sub-ascendancy and chose Elementalist as my second sub-ascendancy.
Here's the concept: I want Explosive Concoction and Discharge as my main skills. With a Sapphire and Topaz flask Explosive Concoction deals all 3 damage types and so does Discharge if you spend all types of Charges. So I'm going with a 3-element build. But here's the spicy stuff: Since I want Discharge to deal all 3 damage types I want generation of all 3 kinds of charges. And since the build is going to be flask-based, best way to do that is through Doedre's Elixir.
So my goal became to have a Sapphire flask, a Topaz flask and Doedre's Elixir up and running and focus on flask effect, flask effect duration and increased flask charges gained, along with scaling spell damage (I'm using Crown of Eyes). Here's where it gets more juicy: If we can get 35% increased Flask Effect, the number of charges of each type Doedre's Elixir can give us increases from 3 to 4. That's huge damage increase for Discharge, and guess what: we get it. And along with the new masteries and nodes related to flasks, I think we can get enough uptime for perma-flasks during bosses. Well, not for all flasks actually, but at least for the important ones.
The build came out to be not something really great regarding dps potential, but its dps is decent, as are its defenses. Here are some important notes:
- Its needless to say that flasks will be up and running during mapping all the time. This means that you get the full dps potential as shown in pob.
- In bosses, dps potential is significantly lower than what is shown in pob. This is because Doedre's Elixir will take some time to fully recharge before you can use it again. According to my calculations, you 'll be able to use it once every 6 seconds. This is an incredibly good number if you take into account that you 'll be not gaining flask charges from other sources, but at the same time it's bad because it means you 'll be able to cast your Discharge once every 6 seconds, which significantly lowers your dps.
- Retaining Sapphire and Topaz flasks' charges during bosses can also be a challenge. Along with some juicy kind of suffix you want for them to boost your dps you either want reduced flask charges used, or increased flask duration as a prefix. I'm not sure which one is the best, but both of them should be viable. It's also advisable that you use an enchantment that automatically uses the flask when charges reach full to make your life easier. We also depend on these flasks for resists, which means that it's extremely important that these two are perma-flasks. If we have 33% increased duration as a prefix on these flasks, they last about 12 seconds and according to my calculations during that time these flasks will gain 25 charges automatically without including any other sources. These flasks cost 20 charges (18 with "reduced flask charges used", gained from passive tree), but the thing is that each attack substracts 3 charges from them, which will make it a challenge to keep them up and running at all times. I have come to the conclusion that this will not be a major problem, because map bosses usually have mobs around them, which means you 'll get flask charges from other sources (not to mention that boss fights in maps usually last less than 12 seconds) and in major boss fights, there can be long pauses during the fight which will give the flasks the opportunity they need to refill.
- The build has an interactive playstyle. You attack with the Concoction most of the time, and every once in a while you use Discharge. I should also probably mention that you want the charges gained from Doedre's Elixir for other purposes other than casting Discharge (probably obvious, but thought I should state it) which means that you want to wait until Doedre's Elixir is up again before you cast Discharge, so that you get back the charges you spent.

I 've done my best min-maxing, the numbers you see are probably the best you can you can get in a build like this.
As a side-note, I know that Discharge does not scale well when you 're missing a weapon, but it fits very nicely into this flask-based build, as we have a unique way to generate charges and benefit from it.
I 'd like to hear your thoughts about this build.
