I included gear progression in the notes
I wanted to share my league starter that I had. This started as tripolarbare's Gen Cry/Shield crush but that build guide was quite outdated. After some updating and some changed I made, it quickly became it's own build. I see no one talking about Gen Cry/Shield Crush and absolutely no one was thinking about doing it this way.
Why Aegis Aroura?
Aegis is usually used in ES heavy builds along with global defense and CI to make near immortal regenerating build. Instead, our only source of ES is the shield and the %life as ES mod on the body armor. At my current armor, the shield restores about half my ES on block. Paired with a little life recoup, this can easily heal through many attacks. To the point where multi-proj map mod could be considered a defensive layer.
With the use of Seething Fury Jewel and Divergent Shield Crush we get around 150% crit multi for free. This can go even further if you can somehow afford an ashes. This more than overcomes the base damage loss from a 1200 armor shield.
This became a very good all around build that can map at a decent speed and boss rather comfortably. I never did Maven before this league and I killed her easily with no deaths.
Pros-
Walking Sim - Walk in circles and damage just happens. This allows you to focus entirely on positioning
Tanky and fast - Berserk and shield charge and very good for zooming. Just wade through packs with easy
Affordable with a very smooth gear progression - I league started this. I invested about 15ex in further upgrades but I got all the currency through playing this. There is also further I could go if I wanted to.
Alch and go - Only "no regen" map mod is undoable. -Cooldowns and less block is painful but doable.
Archnemisis? What's that? - Unaffected by the hardest archnem mods ( I didn't understand the league feedback due to how little the mods did anything to my build )
Farms 7+ Essence mobs easily - Pop, curse, totem, run in circles and the loot filter goes off.
Cons-
Delayed Damage - Cry, Dudes Spawn, Dudes run over, dudes hit. This takes maybe a second. This delay sets your clearing pace and slows you down quiet a lot.
Targeting - The General cry mirages aren't the brightest with targeting. It's very hard to get it to focus on a specific mob and this can cause problems.
Block can and will fail - 95% of the time you are immortal, sometimes you just die randomly
10% increased damage taken - Still a berserker, this can lead to getting one shot to a large spike of damage.
Legion is impossible - I have never seen a worse legion character. Targeting is so bad, maybe you can open one of the frozen enemies. I'd just block it.
Blight is painful - Targeting again. If something gets past your choke point don't trust your dudes will go for it. I just blocked it.
Here's some videos. My PC is really bad. I recorded a juiced T16 map clear and it was like 2fps. Unwatchable. Instead here is a Synth map and a Maven Witnessed Shaper. Still bad but you can see it a bit.
Synth Map - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-sxIkPbFZ8
Shaper - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISpjDdMrHQA
This shaper is actually a really good example of a bad point of the build. The targeting couldn't go after the mobs attacking Zana causing her to die which caused me to die to infinite chaos.
