I am an inquisitor main, I started playing in scourge and in each of my 3 leagues inquis has been my primary char. I cleared all bosses with energy blade smite, then in AN I cleared sim 30 with ice crash str stack + petrified blood and radiant faith jewels. This league I decided to go spellcaster and adapt captainlance's giga guardian, using my low life setup instead of ivory tower (and dropping ashes), and I could not be more impressed. Playing it with storm burst I have, unflasked at lvl 92: 11M dps, 90% allres / 49k armor, glancing blows block cap, and capped chaos res. Total is 123k max hit taken that goes up to 186k and 15M dps with flasks, and up further with easy conditions (hit recently, stationary). PoB of where I'm at is below, the only thing I don't have in game is the body armor implicits shown as I adjusted my res setup recently.

https://pastebin.com/fP28q95d - I was going to video killing the hidden without moving, but I said "let me show off 50% reduced flask charges gained to prove it's playable!". The aptly named height of hubris keystone means I have to farm some more invites before I have presentable footage.

Edit: This is an updated PoB of where I am a week later as I'm about done with the build til mageblood, I added full suppress gear and swapped diamond flask to bottled faith for burst (heh) dps. 567k ehp, 17.6M damage, *theoretically* should be able to tank memory game but I need good timing, self damage, or a 28 qual bismuth for that to work. I also dropped an enduring composure / precise focus megalo I think could be worth running, if anyone sees a way to make that fit I'm very intrigued.

And here's captainlance's build, so anyone can see the inspiration and a better explanation of core ideas (and better gear):

He does a great job explaining the shell, so I'm just going to go over my substitutions that make my version (imo) equally effective yet much more accessible. I'd say I put about 30ex into this, but it works fine on 20 and honestly it works on like 30c rares in most slots plus an aegis aurora, it's just not nearly as efficient before the whole melding + purity + nebulis setup is done. There's still a lot of room for me to improve this with more investment too - higher rank implicits, getting my resists consolidated so I can get high str/int rolls or spell suppress, getting closer to 5k life instead of under 4k, alt qual and lvl 21 gems, etc.

-The biggest difference, and meat and potatoes of what we're going for here, is inquisitor vs guardian. Inquis gives res ignore, meaning way less suffix (and overall gear) pressure, plus crit and a ton of regen. For a build like this we really want an eldritch influence chestpiece over a conq one with +crit or a mandatory ivory tower, so having all that crit is huge. I vastly prefer petrified blood to any contrived IT + coruscating + timeless jewel shenanigans, and pious path makes our 2k hp very valuable and hard to bring down.

-I said "unflasked" but my bismuth is checked. This *never* goes down (...unless you roll 100% reduced flask charges invites), not even in bossfights and especially not flask drain mobs or sim waves. You need to take 5 hits every 22 seconds to keep it running, and if it is a major phobia you can gear to not need it but it's a bit painful - you absolutely need the block wheel next to glancing blows for resists (will touch on that more), and cannot use any uniques that dont offer significant resists themselves so no CotB. I'd rather run TWO bismuths rainbows than force an extra 220+ res onto my gear, but it is completely doable and at one point I had a +1 amulet and two t1 cast speed rings and still hit unflasked 90% resists.

-The heart of the build is aegis + melding + purity of ice + tempest shield. In theory, taking glancing blows and the block wheel next to it, plus divergent tempest shield, gives 75 all block and thus absurd ES sustain vs many hits. However, if you are cheap and cant afford divergent tempest, you can use one low rank EoW implicit for spell block. I have my block coming from channeling clusters, but a non-channeling skill can swap to crit mediums and grab that wheel instead. It also gives 24% all res, which is huge.

-Eternal struggle is incredible. It can give res efficiency, max all res, aura effect, block, damage, pretty much anything. It also gives up to 60 of each attribute with catalysts, which is massive QoL and crit on inq, and 15% cull which is a 17.6% more damage multiplier.

-I'm playing storm burst bc it's very visually satisfying and I've never been able to make it work before now. For anything else drop the duration stuff and you're golden, or if you want comment a non-chaos spell and I'll adjust it into the PoB next time I have a minute at my PC. If you have any techs you think I should make to improve the shell further by all means comment those too, I'm a slut for feedback and engagement. Hopefully this helps some of you find some in underplayed spells and selfcasting in general, I'm going to keep improving this and also work on getting tectonic slam chief up to speed as my side project now that storm burst is sim30 viable.

EDIT: Some clips now that I have them, I told y'all storm burst can't be made to map fast. You can tell I'm only half paying attention as I let chayula get away in a breach and then as I kill too fast during elder's immune phase so my flask drops (supposed to let adds shoot me for charges).
