I always loved the Celestial Cat Soulrend effect mtx (one of the few i bought instantly when it launched) and was sad that Soulrend is such a crap skill. So I decided to give Soulrend of the Spiral a whirl this league after farming a mageblood in sanctum.

Plays kinda like a clunky blade vortex. Cast it and for a (short) while, cats run out of you which explode stuff. So you cast + dash into a pack of mobs to blow them up.

Clear: Pretty nice actually
Boss dps: LOL
Problems:

• Cast speed. jfc 0.9s cast time is a joke.
• Mana cost. without mageblood mana cost flask, each cast costs 300 mana.

Edit: Take this like a proof of concept of what the skill plays like. The build is horribly unoptimized. I have 3 attribute nodes and a mostly useless Power Charge node. I think it could be borderline viable if some competent people tried building it.
