At the same time, your Smite and Shield charge cost NO mana which makes running no regen maps super comfy, at the same time S.S. is only 12 mana, so most of the time you are not running out of mana when using the ability. For the price of losing around 200 ES and bleed immunity or 600 flat ES and 10-20int. (all the rings are in PoB you can swap then and check yourself).
