Just a video of me going against Awakener 8 on Hardcore.

Defenses: 5k life, 48% MoM, Fortify. From flasks: 25% phys reduction and 17% ele reduction as well as ailment immunity and huge movespeed. If not hit recently: 20% less damage taken, 75/67 dodge. If taken spell damage recently: 75/75 dodge. 1.8k/sec life recovery, 3.5k/sec mana recovery.

My gear costs 50 ex but that's with Awakened support gems and 21/20 gems. You do the same with 20 ex for sure. E.g. my rares: 30c gloves, 25c shield, 10c ring and 2c belt. Although I spent a lot of ex on catalysts and bench crafts.
