TL;DR: Rolled a Trickster Trinity wander with some lucky SSF drops (Mind of the Council + Cloak of Defiance + Call of the Brotherhood); looking for pointers as to next steps to take this to full endgame. Other constructive comments/general questions on the build welcome.
I got really lucky with a Treant Horde unique drop session, landing Mind of the Council, Cloak of Defiance, and Call of the Brotherhood. With mana-based damage stacking becoming a little more viable with Eternal Blessing allowing access to auras, I decided to roll up a Trickster to take advantage of those items. I didn't initially intend to play a wander, originally looking at bow builds or spellcasting, but crit scaling with Fusillade and a serendipitous Storm Prison nudged me in that direction.
Build as planned - https://pastebin.com/k0qsDyyY; build as it is now - https://pastebin.com/sxFsCqKy.
This post is both a showcase of the build idea as well as a request for help in taking it further; I have a rough idea of what I need to do but would appreciate guidance from more experienced players of this archetype.
Offensively, the idea is to go with mana stacking relying on the mana bonuses from Cloak of Defiance and Weave the Arcane. Mind of the Council and Arcane Cloak then convert this mana into flat lightning damage, supplemented by Sigil of Power and Added Lightning Damage. Call of the Brotherhood partially converts lightning damage into cold damage to tap on Trinity bonuses and provide freezes and chills for safety. Trickster's Harness the Void and Swift Killer provide key bonuses to chaos damage and charges, and Hydrosphere and Mark on Hit - Sniper's Mark round out the damage.
Defensively, Grace is paired with Eternal Blessing to keep all mana clear for Arcane Cloak and the inbuilt 40% MoM from Cloak of Defiance (and the +30% lightning MoM from Mind of the Council). Hydrosphere is linked to Blind support to boost evasion as well as accuracy. Life and mana leech (from Clever Thief and wand masteries) and ES leech (from the elemental mastery) are responsible for recovery. Because of the leech, I'm not particularly minded to burn the three points for Ghost Dance, which would otherwise be usual for this type of build. Escape Artist significantly boosts ES and evasion, and lastly, mitigation is provided by Arcane Cloak, Sigil of Power and Frost Shield in combination, which reduces incoming enemy damage and diverts it to a number of other pools. So far, this has been deceptively tanky although tough rares like 4x Archnemeses have occasionally been able to oneshot me, or outdamage my regen.
This is therefore a bit of a middle of the road build between int-stacking wanders and the Ice Bite Raider version. While the overall concept is similar to an int stacker it takes some cues from Archmage and CotB builds, and AFAIK this particular combination isn't very meta. CoD and MotC are 1-alch uniques, and CotB is 10 chaos on trade at the moment, so it's not that expensive a build for its relatively good performance.
My plan for the build, on which I'd appreciate tips, is as follows (in an SSF context):
Looking at this overview, I'm concerned that a lot of my damage scaling will be backloaded, which might not be enough to get me through red maps. Are there any quick fixes for this that would be doable in an SSF environment?
The build is also a little limited in that the helm, chest, and a ring slot are locked up, so there are relatively few slots for improvement, and affix pressure is serious enough to avoid using more uniques if possible.
Also, should I try and preserve the relatively unique attack-Archmage style of the build, or should I aim to pivot to an int-stacker eventually? I don't have that much playtime and I'm worried that I won't have the time to satisfactorily pull off an int-stacker.
Thanks in advance.
