Overview
Wardloop variation - Catloop Build Showcase - 65.65 CPS (Cats per Second) x3 on marked enemy - 3.24 Necropolis League is a Path of Exile Ascendant build by saenator, made for the Necropolis league (3.24). It is centered on Soulrend of the Spiral and plays as a chaos, intelligence, spell, area archetype. In Path of Building it reaches 49.9M DPS with 39.72K effective HP, 2.43K life, 117 energy shield. Suited for: Mapping. Key uniques include Olroth's Resolve, Progenesis, Nimis, Dying Sun, Heartbound Loop.

saenator's Notes
Have you ever wanted a cat? How about 30 cats? Now you can have 65.65 cats PER SECOND! AND IF THAT IS NOT ENOUGH, YOU CAN HAVE 196.95 CATS PER SECOND WHEN YOU HIT A MARKED ENEMY WITH EACH OF YOUR CATS!!!
This league I was extremely lucky to get a mirror drop and I have long wanted to do a wardloop build. The mirror gave quite a bit of budget to play around and mix this glorious piece of Catloop together.
The main skill of the build is Soulrend of the Spiral. Main reason: Can use the Cats MTX. This spell also has a handy property of shotgunning as each of the projectiles shot by the spell can hit the enemy. The downside is that you need to stand directly on top of the enemy for this to ever happen as projectiles are shot in a pattern around you. As Soulrend and its spiral variation are chaos spells, adding poison chance makes it possible to hit the dot cap on non uber content if I've calculated everything correctly. Feel free to correct me here as I am not the most well known build maker by any means and this is my first real attempt to make something more of a own variation of a build instead of blindly following a build guide.
As this is a wardloop build there are multiple calculations that must match exactly for this build to work. I did lot of trial and error to get everything rolling as they do in the showcase video. If you are interested in building one yourself I highly suggest taking a look at Akshay post in Path of Exile forums about Ward Loop as this is one of the most well put together info about Ward Loops I found: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3261066
There was no +5 Chaos Spell staves available at the trade so that one I managed to put together with the Graveyard crafting in Necropolis league. I have no idea how hard this would be to craft in any other league but I'd imagine it is fairly doable with enough of currency.
For 3.25 I am not sure if this build can be made anymore as Olroth's Resolve is getting nerfed (85% less ward instead of 70% less ward). It will depend on the new ward values of the helm, gloves and boots.
Some special tech worth mentioning:
- The 1.51 total Curse+Mark Effect Modifier makes the Sniper's Mark split cats in 3 instead of normal 2. (VERY IMPORTANT FOR MAXIMIZING THE CPS)
- Selfcast Despair for Wither with The Balance of Terror (Inflict Withered for 2 seconds on hit if you've cast Despair in the past 10 seconds)
- Hexblast for Shocks
Pros of the build:
- CATS
- Chill playstyle of just running and let the loop do the work
- Extremely high damage
- Elemental Ailment immunity
- Tanky against small hits and shotgun like attacks/spells thanks to Ward
- Can also tank some bigger hits from certain bosses with the 100% Spell Suppress and MoM
- Level 37 spell skill gem
- DID I MENTION CATS?
- CATS CATS CATS CATS CATS CATS
Cons of the build:
- High Budget - cost around a mirror to put together
- Lots of calculations that must match exactly to make the build work - Minion duration, CDR, Recoup Life/Mana, Damage Taken from Heartbound Loop+Forbidden Rite (Life + Chaos Resistance)
- Certain map modifiers, Temporal Bubble and some other stuff will break this build or make it really annoying to play - Either the loop will stop working completely or constantly have to swap to the secondary weapons to summon Spectral Spirits to restart the loop
- Any bigger hits from enemies, especially physical and chaos, will hurt a lot and most likely get you killed
- Good luck on avoiding any mechanics as you just can't see anything else than the beautiful cats flying everywhere
- Don't forget to click your Olroth flask before starting the loop
- Why do I smell burning? Oh its just the CPU and GPU...
This post is mainly meant for a showcase of the build. In case you have fancy ideas though feel free to leave tips on how to improve this build even further. Most important would be of course to have even more CPS to burn my components of the PC even more, but also any tips regarding making the build feel more tanky without breaking the loop are appreciated too.
