► About the Build:
First, there is nothing wrong with the Juggernaut version, both versions are great.
Back in 3.20 I tried Champion but didn't like it. So why now?
A few things got added, namely Vow which brings Champion closer to Juggernauts tankiness and the stuff that Juggernaut uses got more expensive (Indomitable Resolve and CI Impossible Escape).
When I was craving some Reaper early in the league I was looking at an entry cost of almost 150 divines before even putting a single gem into my gear. Month later and the situation has gotten even worse: Impossible Escape at ~85 divs, +1 bow base at ~30+ divs, Forbidden Jewels at ~60 div for a pair. I felt it was time to dig out Champion again and tweak the build a bit.
Back in Sanctum I knew Champ was the solution for a "lower budget" approach, but my build and my thought process were not right.
I had to tweak alot and throw out a few fluff auras, but the end result is quite good and in some areas absolutely crushes the jugg version.
► Overview:
I added Vow, which takes away the need to craft a body armour and deal with Eldritch implicits. I dropped the Impossible Escape (~85 divs, yikes) and get my aura effect via Champion and the extra curse with a cheap Anathema ring. The latter also means one less Bone ring to craft. I am using a Replica Dragonfang instead of an Auls. This amulet is absolutely cracked for Reaper and has everything you would want from an ammy. Next step was dealing with a few issues I had on prior Champ versions. Not using taunt in this build feels wrong but using it made me feel squishy in 3.20. Hitting a screen with Asenath and having 100 deli mobs turn on you in Simulacrum was a death sentence. With that much aura effect and some base evasion from champion, it felt wrong not to try out Grace. But I needed to sacrifice something. Naturally, this meant not beeing able to reserve everything that we ran on Jugger. So i took a good look at what we can drop. I decided to get rid of Aspect and Flesh and Stone. With Flesh and Stone gone, we lose our Maim source and thus the need to run Maim dot mods on belt and jewels = cheaper. I replaced those with defensive mods and different sources of damage.
I also dropped the +1 bow and went with the alternative, a cheap % minion damage bow, which ends up beeing better for our clear. I am running 2 big minion clusters (any combination works here, 2x11, 2x10, 2x12, 8+12, etc.) = better clear. For Forbidden Jewels I am using Worthy Foe, which I paid 2 div for.
I still had one leftover curse from Anathema, so I went with Enfeeble on my Asenath, which synergizes with the Blind and Grace Aura. To further boost this, I decided to get a Grace (Evasion) and Purity Watchers Eye. The end result is over 90% evasion, or over 2 mil ehp againt attacks. This build can now run 100% deli and pull multiple screens. And Reaper gets 80% evasion as a side effect.
Speaking of Reaper, this is the tankiest Reaper I have had so far. This build taunts everything which not only takes the heat off our girl but reduces all the damage she takes. Add the 80% evasion, damage reduction via Enfeeble and this Reaper doesn't give a frick in most content. Prior I needed to run Meat Shield in Simulacrums. With this build I don't. The only thing that can still reliably kill Reaper is Uber Exarch and Maven.
The last big thing I want to talk about is my new mapping tech - Haste. Reapers damage is so high and our aura effect so potent, that at some point I was wondering if I could implement Haste. This is ontop of Minion Speed Support + Summon Phantasms. And oh boi does it improve everything. With the focus on more "direct" damage increases and with Haste this actually turned into an incredible mapper. It can even do fully open maps now, including juiced Breaches, Harbies, Legions and Flawless Breaches without much issues.
For Ubers I am swapping to Malevolence obviously.
