LEVELING SETUP: (If i specifically state linking a support gem that means that support is Mandatory and Huge damage, the rest are flex slots in case you cant find support gems)
Act 1:
Lightning Spear is still the clearing ability of choice, before that just use whatever you feel like.
Kill bosses with regular Spear Stab linked with Martial Tempo
Grab Explosive Spear when you can, use this on bosses in between spear stabs. Link it with Overabundance
Use the new Cull the Weak support gem to generate frenzy charges to make your explosive spears blow up instantly.
Try to get as much FLAT ELEMENTAL DAMAGE on All your gear. Rings, Gloves, Spear, Flat Ele is the Way. The difference between a Single flat elemental damage rune in your spear vs none is massive.
Spear Stab the act 1 boss too. Then go to Act 2.
Act 2:
Setup remains mostly the same but now you have Lightning Spear as your clear, link this with Volt as soon as you get a level 2 support gem. Then it's just smooth sailing for clear.
IF you dont have enough flat elemental damage on gear, lightning spear would feel weak for clearing. In that case, just use storm lance and explosive spears on packs too.
Once you get Storm Lance, your boss killing rotation is this:
Explosive Spear, Explosive Spear, Lance Lance Lance, Explosive Spear Explosive Spear, Lance Lance Lance. And so on. 2 explosives, 3 lances. By the time you throw your 3rd lance, your first 2 spears would have blown up, allowing you to
maintain the rotation.
Do this all the way through act 2 into act 3.
Get sniper's Mark whenever you can, it helps alot with single target.
In act 2 when you get your first spirit gem, take herald of thunder.
You can ascend here, get elemental infusion (you can also go straight for the accuracy crit node if you got lucky and have good accuracy rating gear already)
Act 3:
Continue with your setup as usual until you can get the Thunderous Leap support, this will be your new way to detonate your storm lances. You will still use explosive spears for extra damage, but if you want to detonate something quickly, Leap.
You get your tame beast gem here, try to find a nice beast to tame but it's not mandatory.
Your single target now is just Snipers mark, Storm lances, explosive spears and thunderous leap.
Ascend, if you took Ele infusion before then unspec it now and go for the Accuracy Rating on Weapons = Flat Phys Damage node, This is a massive boost to damage. Go grab a spear with good accuracy and flat ele dmg
Cruel Campaign:
The 2nd ascendancy is the big powerhouse of the build for the campaign, the spear with accuracy will carry you through the rest of the acts.
Keep upgrading your spear as often as you can.
You will get another spirit gem, once you do use it to get Combat Frenzy. You will now add an Electrocute link to your Storm Lance so you get frenzy charges
While killing a boss, you will still also use sniper's mark. If you have an extra jeweller orb use it on your lightning spear too and swap the electrocute gem back and forth to get frenzies while clearing and bossing.
Once you're high enough level to get the Trinity spirit gem, go buy a scepter and then start using Trinity with Herald of Thunder and Wind Dancer (or a tamed beast if you have a good one, but meh)
Congratulations youre done with the campaign. Now just follow the normal build get the items and have fun.
LEVELING PASSIVE TREE:
Go for only elemental damage nodes early, do not go for accuracy nodes unless you have accuracy rating on your gear and plan on taking the crit ascendancy first.
The rest of the tree will eventually be the same.
