Olroth's Resolve

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my build that is still a WIP.

Highlights:

  1. 10m+ poison dps
  2. Chaining explosions for clear
  3. “Infinite” ehp

I’m using the boots Beacon of Madness which give 100% chance to poison, all damage can poison, and enemies have a 40% chance to explode for a quarter of their maximum life. My main skill is Tornado Shot.

Why go through the trouble of using the boots?

  1. The explosions poison nearby enemies causing chaining explosions. If you played with the legacy explode chest mods you will know how smooth this makes clearing maps
  2. ALL damage poisons. There is a crucible mod that Zizaran highlighted which does the same for blast rain and artillery ballista but these boots let you use any skill you want
  3. The boots give one of the only sources of reduced flask effect you can get. This almost completely removes the downside of Olroth’s Resolve allowing me to have permanent 2.3k ward

The boots come with heavy downsides which are mitigated in a few ways:

  1. Reduced action speed is nullified by trickster’s One Step Ahead
  2. I was using tainted pact to make up for 90% reduced life recovery rate but this severely limited my dps. I had to use supports that scaled both hit and poison damage. Now I am just using a vitality life on hit watcher’s eye combined with instant leech and jewels that reduce all ailment duration to almost 0
  3. 60% inc damage taken is the heaviest downside in my opinion. This is basically 100% mitigated by taking Wellspring of Creation on my Atlas Tree and using Tricksters’s Heartstopper
  4. Reduced flask effect and charges gained. Using Olroth’s Resolve turns the effect reduction into a positive. The reduced charges gained is easily mitigated by stacking increased flask charges gained on the tree.

Fun fact: without changing the default calculations I have “infinite” effective hp in PoB.

The build is far from finished. I still have to upgrade my jewelry and get awakened support gems to start. I hope someone else feels inspired to play the same build because it is one of the most enjoyable builds I have created in a long time. I started it with significantly cheaper gear by the way.
