Hello fellow poe build scientists,
TLDR: use scold's to 100% trigger Vengeance by gem quality stacking. Using call of steel to shotgun big rares. Mediocre damage and no defenses. Looking for your ideas on how to improve, or build differently.
When I saw how they changed vengeance gem quality I had this idea, but I got caught up in the MF train and only started thinking about it now. It is a little bit convoluted but in POB it at least look half decent with mediocre gear. Here me out.
Vengeance's quality got changed to 20% trigger chance at 20 quality, thus by putting it in a dialla's and 30 quality ashes, we can now hit 100% chance to trigger when hit.
We hit ourselves by using scold's bridle in combination of plague bearer. (I've tested this in game and it works, just turn it on and off lol. I totally didn't use an AHK btw, since its CD is faster than Vengeance and you cannot simply line them up perfectly together by spamming plague bearer)
The increased spell damage on scold's is not useless either, since we can use battlemage's cry to make it apply to our attacks( Vengeance is an attack) . You can also weapon swap with Al Dhih + Redblade to snapshot a higher warcry effect version of battlemage's cry.
The rest is just trying to get AOE, damage, and defenses to make a playable build. But this is where I'm stuck and is looking for some advice. This is the POB i've come up with. https://pobb.in/-QNnU4YGUKxT
It uses mediocre gear maybe 10~15d, (enlighten 3 is not needed, just lower precision lvl down to like 15 or something, you lose like 2% damage) The most expansive unique is probably Ashes/Diallas/Starforge, but even in a normal league not like affliction, they'd be like 3d max after week 1. Not that I would league start this anyway since you need a pair of Pain Forged forbidden jewels to start. They are like 50c each but you gotta wait until the boss killer people to start farming ubers.
At this level of investment Vengeance Hits every 0.98 Second, covers half a screen, with a peak Hit of 7.5Mil , falling down to 5Mil as impales runs out due to using impaler keystone. DPS then rotates back to peak after 4 second. HOWEVER, if there are trash mobs around a boss/big rare you can use call of steel to do an extra 3Mil Per trash mob due to call of steel being able to detonate the impales on enemy corpses. But for bosses that have no inherence trash mobs like Minotaur or any elderslayers and such, you'd need vaal breach.
This is already not looking very good, as the damage is average at best. This Build also has non-existent defenses. I cannot cap elemental res with gear since many uniques are mandatory, so I had to use a bismuth flask. Although it lasts 40seconds but its just too ghetto. Same with Chaos res, even in a normal league where mobs are not buffed to the moon by 9k wisps, any pack of as extra chaos mobs would one shot you. Without Moltenshell ticked,it has 16k EHP.
I don't see this build to be playable at current league even with mageblood level of investment since wisp buffed mobs are just too beefed. However, it doesn't even look playable at normal leagues. Thus I'm sharing this concept here, and hope to hear some suggestions and how you would build differently.
