I am still fairly new to POE and this is my first guide, so there is probably a ton of mistakes in it.
Huge shoutout to Pohx. Most of this PoB is literally pulled from his RF Jugg guide. Be sure to check him out at twitch.tv/pohx and his wiki at pohx.net or actually good RF builds
TLDR: Don't try this. Follow Pohx's Chieftan RF
<< DISCLAIMER OVER >>
I've been really wanting to get into making builds/guides ever since I've started playing ARPG's and especially POE. This is my first attempt at making a semi-new idea and really getting into the nitty gritty of what makes it work so other people can follow it.
I wanted to get this out into the world, so I figured that reddit would be the best place to start, but I have a couple of questions:
What can I do to improve the build or guide?
What are some good ways to share the build other than on subreddits?
Any other questions or comments are appreciated.

This is the notes I put in the PoB:
Why Elementalist?
Short answer: Because I wanted to.
Long answer: Elementalist has access to larger aoe, more potent exposure, more ele damage scaling, and gauranteed ignites all through the ascendancy. This combined with explosions and ignite prolif can get our clear to be very fast.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This RF build is probably less efficient than all of the other RF builds (Chieftan, Jugg, Inquisitor). Do not play it unless you really want to play elementalist or are masochistic like me
What to use before firetrap?
You can either follow the guide and use rolling magma, but after you get flammability you can run wave of conviction with some ignite/fire damage and just lower res with flammability and WoC and let RF do damage.
Which Large Cluster Jewel to use?
Anything with Prismatic heart or Burning bright in the front. You can also opt out for 12 Passsive clusters and try to craft them for stats like + Life & Chaos Res with Increased effect.
Which Medium Cluster Jewels to use?
Flow of life + Any combination
Swapping Determ for Malevolence
You can do this swap when you have around 60% Conversion. Usually Dawnbreaker + Cloak of Flame + Chaos Conversion on tree. This setup will feel MUCH Better with Defiance of Destiny (Amulet)
What tree and item set should I use?
Obviously use the corresponding level trees as you level up, but use the item set as a rough goal. Be sure to check all of the items in a given level range because some of them have some useful tips.
Some of the basics of the build:
- 99.9% of people shouldn't even try to look at the ultra endgame tree and items. That build would probably cost multiple hundreds of divines worth of gear.
- Obliteration is a cheap way to proc on death explostions for ignites and herald of ash. Taking the on death explode as a fire mastery is also an option, but is much less consistant. The end goal is to have oriath's end as the main on death explosion
- If you want more explodes then using the forbidden flame/flesh with profane bloom is an option, but it's pretty expensive
- This build is crazy DEX starved. Using a Jade amulet helps, but dropping that for Defiance of Destiny requires you to have some on your gloves and/or rings.
- You can go the golem ascendancy nodes if you want to early. This gives you some early power, but this build can get pretty socket starved, so good luck having enough open sockets for 3 golems
- Exposure is a very large amount of your damage. Early exposure comes from Wave of Conviction, but after you get fire exposure on your gloves you can drop it. Having the ascendancy exposure notable helps a ton with damage early, so I would recommend taking this first. This is scaled by having these allocated:
- Elemental Mastery: Exposure is at least -18%
- Fire Mastery: Fire exposure gets an additional -5%
- Mastermind of Discord ascendancy passive: Exposure gets an additional -25%
- I don't play SSF, so your milage may vary if you choose to play it in SSF
- Purity of Elements can technically be dropped for another aura, but it makes solving shock and freeze easy and watcher's eyes with the purity of elements damage conversion can get pretty cheap
- Defiance of Destiny helps a ton with feeling tanky, but can get pricy so try to find one for a good price
- Chieftan and Jugg will probably feel tankier, but this has a higher chance to scale damage and area of effect (This video shows how large the area of effect can get if you pour enough into it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkRix0sp7uQ&t=1s)
-I recommend 60% Physical Damage taken as before dropping Determination. Aim to get as close to 100% Physical Damage taken as elemental as you can with an emphasis on fire damage
- Cloak of Flame = 40% Physical Damage taken as Fire
- Corrupted Shield Implicit = 6% to 8% Physical damage taken as elemtal
- Dawnbreaker 10% - 20% Physical Damage taken as Fire
- Watchers Eye Purity of Fire/Elements - 8-12% Physical Damage taken as Fire/Lightning/Cold
- Lethal Pride - 5% Physical Damage taken as Fire (Use the timeless jewel calculator: https://vilsol.github.io/timeless-jewels/tree. This also can give % max life)
- Crafted on rare helmet - 8% Physical Damage taken as Fire.
- Arm/Es Mastery - 10% Physical Damage taken from hits as Chaos
- Rare Body Armor - 6% Physical Damage taken as Fire & Lightning (if using rare body)
- Taste of Hate - 10-15% Physical Damage taken as Cold (Not recommended because you already are giving up a flask spot to Oriath's End)
