Here we go, concept of a build I'm toying since this evening, after someone threw at me the idea of melee elemental hit, me answering it was shit, him holding his ground, and me checking a bit more and finding insane synergies about it.
Concept of the build:
- Elementalist, because the damage is just that good and shaper of storm is clutch. Slayer is an alternative.
- Elemental hit, replacing your weapon with an attack doing a large amount of flat damage. You use the usual suspect to block cold and lightning, even if I toyed with the idea of leaving cold open despite avatar of fire to greed more damage. In the end, given how high we reach, I don't think it's necessary and consistency trumps potential.
- In melee, Elemental Hit is usually played with paradoxica for the double damage. However, it doesn't work for ignite. Yet, you have an awesome replacement, Story of_the_Vaal. Story of the vaal does 75% more ignite damage, but it doesn't stop here. It has also three other awesome effects:
- Hits with this Weapon always Ignite, Freeze, and Shock - Hits with this Weapon Freeze Enemies as though dealing (150-200)% more Damage - Hits with this Weapon Shock Enemies as though dealing (150-200)% more Damage
The first one may sound weird. Why is it awesome when i'm already playing elementalist? Because you gain 100% chance to FREEZE. And you get Freeze as if you did 200% more damage. You also gain shock as if you were doing 200% more damage, which enable a fairly nice 30% shock effect.
But, wait, chance to freeze is good, but it's all fire damage, isn't it?
- That's the second piece, Expedition's_End. All damage can freeze (and without the 100% chance to freeze from story of the vaal, it wouldn't be nearly as good), and freeze as if you were doing 100% more damage. Meaning you freeze as if you were doing x6 more damage, and it allows for perma freeze everything under the sun (tho pinacle are not stopped by the freeze).
- Then you can add some fascinating piece of equipment greatly improving the damage, such as Heatshiver (which work on the unconverted part of cold damage, even tho it doesn't give nearly as much damage as in a regular freeze build), qotra regulator (the drawback is perfectly sustainable and it's EO ++), legacy of fury (4th ailment and actually matter for ignite), Pyre (conversion and 100% increased damage).
- And you finish by using infernal cry for ashes and explosion (which ignite as well for ~130% max life per second, even tho the CD is still 8s)
Basically, you hit shit, shit is frozen, shit is burning, shit is shocked, shit will explode. And there is no reason ever shit get unfrozen, including all map bosses.
And, on top of that, unless I missed something obvious, it doesn't look like too costly.
