#Intro

I've been wanting to try a CoC character for a while but somehow never got around to it. This is a pretty basic bow coc inquisitor setup. I've invested 130 ex into the character, though the vast majority of that is in just the boots and awakened gmp. I'd recommend at a bare minimum 50 ex to get started relatively comfortably.

Disclaimer: I don't think the build is some secret OP or ultra bang-for-your-buck build, but it is a lot of fun to play.

##Pros

  • pretty good all-rounder for bossing and mapping
  • high single target with swap to barrage setup
  • very high regen
  • inquisitor elemental ailment immunity

##Cons

  • relatively low physical damage mitigation (and chaos for me, but you can get it on rings/quiver/clusters)
  • crafting bow can be a pain
  • gemswap for conqs/sirus/maven not required, but it is a huge damage increase
  • couldn't fit in HoI for those juicy mtx/shatter chains (well, you can, but it'd probably be strictly worse from a numbers perspective)

#Mechanics

The pob dps is way lower than most CoC builds because pob assumes each attack will only crit once. In reality, a single tshot can easily trigger 4 spells (ice spear and fp twice each). It is far easier for tshot to hit 2 targets simultaneously than for cyclone to, which is why we use 2 spells in our 6l coc setup. For tornado shot, you aren't really focused on reaching breakpoints, and attack speed is purely for QoL.

For single target, you can switch over to barrage. With awakened GMP + dying sun, barrage is hitting a shit ton of times/second. According to this post (linked here), the attack time is split between windup and then extra fast attacking. Given this formula is true:

Effective APS = Projectile count / ((1/attack speed) * 0.6)

You would want < 3.62 attack speed with awakened gmp + dying sun up. You can push yourself very close to this limit by tuning the quality on divergent barrage (and also on gmp if need be). I assume for these single target encounters onslaught is not up.

##Why bow?

Bow gives us smoother clear since you can do your coc trigger from afar. It also gives us access to asenath's chant, which is a huge QoL/damage boost by automating hydrosphere + snipers mark, both of which synergize very well with ice spear. Hydrosphere also can be automated by cospris, but with bow/asenaths, it is generally placed in much better areas. Also, bow gives us a pseudo-7L, and access to chain, which is huge for the build.

##Hydrosphere + Chain

You need at least 1 chain, or hydrosphere will eat up your projectiles. With a chain though, hydrosphere increases the consistency of ice spear single target by a ton and makes it so you don't really need to perfectly space yourself. You can simply shoot your ice spear into hydrosphere, and they'll chain onto the boss from there. This also applies for barrage.

This will mean our ice spear is hitting in 1st form, but we don't really need 2nd form ice spear since our crit chance is already capped.

##CoC setup

It is much easier for bow coc to utilize a double coc setup in their 6l because it is easier for a bow attack to crit twice in a single attack due to the effective range of tshot being basically the entire screen (or more if you scale proj speed). The double coc setup is good because ice spear has some dead zones for clearing. Utilizing either freezing pulse or creeping frost alongside ice spear will fix these issues.

Especially with double coc setup, awakened added cold is huge. I would prioritize pretty heavily getting a lvl 5 or lvl 6 one - self-leveling takes way too long.

##Charge generation

You can get frenzies from quiver crafted mod and power charges from clusters (stormrider + cold conduction)

##Ascendancy

Most bow coc characters go deadeye for the built in chain, but I opted inquisitor. Inquisitor makes it far easier to cap crit, and it provides a lot more defensive power than deadeye (ailment immunity + regen).

#Gear

##Helm

As mentioned, we use Asenath's Chant for hydrosphere/snipers mark automation (preferable snipers mark or ice spear enchant). There isn't really any alternative and this is BiS.

##Bow

You want lvl 20 CoC and chain. I just bought one already crafted and slammed an aisling on it. Crafting attack speed is nice, and instead of random accuracay jewels, I should probably have just used harvest accuracy per quality enchant (the bows dmg doesnt really matter, though barrage does have like 500k somehow).

##Chest

Doppelgangers guise (sane mode) is really really underrated on inquisitor. My setup had some large defensive holes in the form of low chaos res + low pdr, but adding in doppelgangers guise shored these up very well. The regen is also huge.

I also tried using a hybrid chest piece, but while that gave me ~3k higher ehp, I still felt squishier overall.

##Amulet/gloves

Use the pretty standard astra + shapers touch inquisitor combo. This gives us an easier time with attribute requirements and gives us a pretty large boost to crit chance. You could probably do better with a +2 amulet

##Rings/Quiver

You get most of your resistances here. Other than that, you can pick up more life/damage. The quiver I picked up for 1 ex, but that was a steal imo. My rings can use a lot of work; you would probably want opal rings. It would also be better to craft -mana cost to non-channeling skills here rather than running a replica conq efficiency, but my jewels are just all sorts of scuffed in general.

##Boots

My boots are way overkill, I just wanted to try crafting some really nice ones. I would recommend getting tailwind boots at least, but the double elevated mods + elusive are not remotely required. Elevated onslaught/elusive don't do anything for single target anyways.

Check here for crafting guide: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SDTC8bX5j2MM1i73W-E2x7Q7Or1mUTYlHMHKP8td2ho/edit#gid=0

Honestly, just buying completed at this point of league is comparable cost wise... but going through crafting experience can help teach you some new things.

##Clusters

###Large

Prismatic heart is nice if you're having trouble with res. Sadist is good, but getting the two together can become very expensive. 1x doryanis lesson would be important, but I got revitalizing frost on my timeless jewel so it was unnecessary.

###Medium

Honestly not great options here. I just opted for wish for death/evil eye which is pretty generically good and as previously mentioned stormrider/cold conduction for power charge generation. There aren't really insane dmg medium clusters like for ignite build. You could maybe pick up a blast freeze but I didn't feel it was necessary.

##Jewels

While my jewels are awful, what you would shoot for here is triple multi jewels or double multi + life. Since I had really scuffed jewels, I also went for more normal tree nodes, but there are plenty of 2 point jewel sockets on the tree that you should go for instead if you're willing/able to buy good jewels.

For WE, hatred base crit is nice, but you can also opt for precision multi or es/life on hit with discipline/vitality.

Also, like most hybrid builds, you pick up a doryani glorious vanity for corrupted soul.

##Flasks

Bottled faith + quicksilver + dying sun are pretty much must haves. Bottled faith on inquisitor is just a match made in heaven. Other than that, atziri's promise is pretty good for damage, and I ran a diamond flask to just guarantee crit cap in all situations. In all honesty, it isn't really necessary, and it would be better to swap it for a stibnite or basalt flask to mitigate physical damage. I don't think cinderswallow is great for this build as your regen (especially with doppelgangers) is already insane and I already get onslaught from boots.
