Balaar's Notes

---Link Setup--- Primary DPS Skills: Helix (G) [Splitting Steel (G) until 12] - Onslaught (G) [Replace with Faster Attacks once you have first ascendancy] - Any Reasonable Damage Support - Any Reasonable Damage Support Herald of Purity (R) - Summon Phantasm (B) - Any Damage Support That Works for Both Purity Bros and Phantasms - Any Reasonable Damage Support That Works For Both Purity Bros and Phantasms Holy Relic (R) - Any Reasonable Damage Support - Any Reasonable Damage Support - Any Reasonable Damage Support - Any Reasonable Damage Support Supplemental DPS Skills: Summon Carrion Golem (B) Travel Skills: Leap Slam (R) - Faster Attacks (G) [+ Optional Frostblink (B)] OR Shield Charge (R) - Faster Attacks (G) AND Flame Dash (B) either on main links or weapon swap for gap clearing Utility Skills and Reservations: War Banner (R) Herald of Ash (R) into Determination (R) once you have sovereignity Convocation (B) once you have Enduring Bond on tree Ancestral Protector (R)/Steelskin* (R) can swap protector for steelskin once your minions are online and have some juice to them through tree and ascendancy (A4 and beyond) *Can swap to Molten Shell (R) once you have determination on Curses (In Order of Preference): Poacher's Mark (G) if open green socket Vulnerability/Punishment (R) if open red socket, choose your preference Despair (B) if you only have an open blue socket for curse Supports to fit in on damage links somewhere: Feeding Frenzy (B), typically I will get this linked to Carrion Golem. If not, I will try to get it into the Herald of Purity and Phantasm Setup. Please note Feeding Frenzy requires Library or Lily on templar. Maim (R), typically I will try to get this on a Helix link. Please note maim requires Library or Lily for templar. Culling Strike (G), typically will get it on one of the minions and try to have only one culling strike. However, culling strike is the only DPS green gem templar gets access to that is useful for spells, so you might be forced into more than 1 unless you've done Library or Lily ---Notable Pathing--- (1) Phyiscal and Minion Damage Starting Path (5pts - Lvl 6) (2) Retribution (1pt - Lvl 7) (3) Precision (2pts - Lvl 8 w/ Dweller Skill Pt) (4) Discipline and Training (2pts - Lvl 10) (5) Divine Fervour via Lower Elemental Damage Node (2pts - Lvl 12) (6) Holy Dominion (1pt - Lvl 12 /w Fairgraves Skill Pt) (7) Spiritual Command via Intelligence Nodes and Top of Spiritual Command Wheel (6pts - Lvl 18) (8) Life and Energy Shield Nodes in Purity of Flesh Wheel w/o taking Purity of Flesh (3pts - Lvl 20 w/ Way Forward Skill Pt) (9) Redemption (5pts - Lvl 24 w/ Busts Skill Pt) (10) Spiritual Aid (2pts - Lvl 26) (11) Righteous Army (2pts - Lvl 27 w/ Piety Kill Skill pt) (12) Purity of Flesh w/ 50 pt Life Mastery (2pts - Lvl 29) (13) 30% Minion AoE (1pt - Lvl 30) (13) Sanctity (2pts - Lvl 32) (14) Gravepact (6pts - Lvl 37 w/ Deshret Skill Pt) (15) Devotion (4pts - Lvl 39 w/ Miasmeter and Torments Skill Pts) (16) Resolute Technique (4pts - Lvl 43) (17) Barbarism (3pts - Lvl 44 w/ Tuokohama and Abberath Skill Pts) (18) Sacrifice w/ Recover 5% Minion Life (3pts - Lvl 46 w/ Ryslatha Skill Pt) (19) Sovereignity (4pts - Lvl 48 w/ Ralakesh and Gruthkul Skill Pts) (20) Enduring Bond (6pts - Lvl 53 w/ Kishara's Star Skill Pt) (21) Heart and Soul (4pts - Lvl 55 w/ Tolman and Gemling Legion Skill Pt) (22) Lord of the Dead (2pts - Lvl 56 w/ Yugul Skill Pt) (23) 10% Life Mastery (1pt - Lvl 57) (24) Fill Out Life Wheels at Heart and Soul, Barbarism, and Devotion (3pts - Lvl 58 w/ Shakari and Garukhan Skill Pts) (25a) Fearsome Force, need to respec divine fervour for extra point (4pts - Lvl 60 w/ Vilenta Skill Pt + Refund from Divine Fervour) OR (25b) Minion Damage and Life Nodes under Righteous Army (2pts - Lvl 60) AND Phys Damage Overwhelm Minion Mastery (1pt - Lvl 60 w/ Vilenta Skill Pt) Note in the actual run, I totally forgot to take the 50 Life Mastery which is why I have one floater point invested into Quick Recovery Pathing near end of run because I had thought I had taken the mastery ---Ascendancy Order--- (1) Radiant Crusade (2) Unwavering Crusade (3) Harmony of Purpose ---Gem Acquisition--- Duelist Mule Hillock Quest: Take Splitting Steel (G) Templar Hillock Quest Reward: Whatever gem, reward does not matter as you will not use, you can take gem specifically to use in resistance ring recipe later Hailrake Quest and Breaking Some Egg Quest Rewards: Take Onslaught (G) from Nessa Buy Holy Relic (B) and War Banner (R) from Nessa, if you cannot afford both take Relic first and buy War Banner later Take Ancestral Protector (R) from Tarkleigh Take Frostblink (B) from Tarkleigh Lower Prison Enter Reward: Take Added Fire Damage (R) or Added Lightning Damage (B) depending on what link you have available to support your Relic. If you don't have a 3L on your splitting steel yet (ie G-G-R) due to colors/links, take whatever gem will allow you to 3L the splitting steel. * Buy War Banner (R) if you could not afford it after Hailrake/Breaking Some Eggs Brutus Kill Reward: Take Leap Slam (R) Merveil's Caverns Enter Reward: Whatever gem, reward does not matter as you will not use, you can take gem specifically to use in resistance ring recipe later Buy Spectral Helix (G) Buy Summon Phantasm (B) if you have a spare wisdom scroll. You can equip it to ancestral protector or relic if they have free links Fidelitas/Baleful Gem (Intruders in Black Quest) Reward: Take Herald of Purity (R) Buy Herald of Ash (R) only if you have both (a) a spare alteration and (b) a free red socket Weaver Reward (Sharp and Cruel Quest): Take Cruelty (R)* for Helix or Take Controlled Destruction (B) for Relic Buy Faster Attacks (G) * Note as of writing this Patch 3.19.0e, Cruelty might be bugged as it is no longer working with minions. In 3.18 and before, Cruelty could support minions but the minions COULD NOT gain the cruelty buff, but they would still get the base damage multiplier from the gem itself. This seems to not be working anymore and I do not know if this is a bug or not. Tolman Reward (Lost in Love Quest): Take Vulnerability (R) or Punishment (R) depending on your preference. I usually will swap to Poacher's Mark later anyways Gravicious Quest: Skip doing Gravicious Library Quest: * You do not need to do Library and you can delay until Lily in A6, but if you do Libray this is what I would recommend Buy Poacher's Mark (G) Buy Feeding Frenzy (B) Buy any other damage gems you may want. I will typically grab Added Cold (G) in case I get stuck with an extra green link on my minions and I already have Culling Strike (G) used somewhere else Part Two Swaps: At some point during part 2 (a6-a10), you are going to want to swap to a 1H weapon over a 2H weapon, I will swap to a fast attack speed base usually either a tomahawk or some claw, if I swap to a claw, you need to pick up shield charge (R) and flame dash (B) as you cannot use leap slam with a claw. If you swap to a 1H weapon where you can still use leap slam, no need to worry about picking up shield charge and flame dash. Once you get Sovereignity on Tree, you are going to want to put Determination (R) in. Likewise, once you get Enduring Bond on skill tree around A8, you will want to put Convocation (B) on left-click which means you need to buy it. Typically, when I go back to A3 to buy Determination (R) after I get Sovereignity on Tree ---Bandit Choice--- Alira or Kill All. Alira provides the most QoL through its resistance bonus and mana regen. Kill All is a good option to get some extra points that you can invest in some damage nodes, but managing resistances and mana speed running campaign can be a bit obnoxious without Alira. I would recommend Alira over Kill All for speed leveling purposes, especially if you are trying to do the run deathless. I would later swap to Kill All. If you want to save the currency required to swap, do Kill All. ---Pantheons--- Major: Brine King Minor: Tukohama or Ryslatha, I typically prefer Tukohama ---Muling--- Muling is highly recommended for the extra currency and chance a good links for the run. Moreover, muling duelist for splitting steel makes A1 until Helix a breeze on templar. You can also choose not to mule, but you will be tighter on currency and SIGNIFICANTLY weaker/slower from 1 to 12. If you choose not to mule, I would take Smite (R) from Tarkleigh and then buy Ancestral Call (R), but pre Ancestral Call things will be pain and the gem links for Smite do not correspond as well to Helix. ---Onslaught--- Onslaught will be linked to Helix until we pick up Onslaught from Ascendancy at 28. If you are struggling with damage, you can drop onslaught as soon as you get Faster Attacks linked to Leap Slam at 18 and put another damage link to Helix instead. ---Offerings--- This build does not use offerings as there is too much socket pressure already due to limited sockets you have during campaign. Offerings would provide nice additional damage if you can fit and have corpse generation somewhere. ---Spectres--- This build does not use spectres as there is too much socket pressure. Spectres could be added if you have an open blue. I would just use frenzy and power charge monkeys even in there nerfed state. There might be other utility spectres you could use as well. ---Swap from 2h to 1h--- I will use 2h swords throughout Part 1 of campaign. During part 2, I will look to swap to a 1h and shield setup. I will typically swap to a fast 1h base, such as a tomahawk or a claw. For shields, I will look for an armour or armour/es shield. With the change in 3.19 to allow Bone Spirit, Ivory Spirit, or Fossilised Spirit Shield to roll minion modifiers could be a good option as well if you want more offense versus defense. ---Movement Skills--- You will use frost blink into leap slam at level 10. You can keep frostblink around with leap slam for the leap slam-frostblink movement tech, but it is not required if you don't want to extra overhead of using two movement skills. Moreover, there is a lot of socket pressure in this build, so you might end up not having space for frostblink. If you end up swapping to a claw setup in part 2 of campaign, you will need to swap out leap slam for shield charge and pickup flame dash. If you don't have space for flame dash with shield charge, put flame dash on a weapon swap for when you need to cross gaps that shield charge can't. ---Library, Lily, Both or None--- I would recommend doing Library over Lily. I like doing Library on minion builds to get access to feeding frenzy as early as possible. You do not need to do Library and it is likely to be very slightly faster to wait to Lily. However, I like the QoL of having access to gems early in case I get stuck with weird 4L colors. For example, templar has poor access to green gems and getting green heavy 4Ls is super frustrating, but with early Library you can adapat as necessary and make use of 4Ls rather than being constrained by templar's poor green gem access. I would not do both Library and Lily. ---Guard Source--- This build uses steelskin as its guard source. You can swap to molten shell after getting determination. However, it should be noted that socket pressure will end up resulting in guardskill probably being dropped at some point. I will typically use steelskin/molten shell on left click until I start using left click convocation. In the actual run I did, I did not have a socket spot for a guardskill at all during the run and at the points I may have, I forgot about it.
