Hello, I've seen a lot of folks trying to make a CoC FR and I want to share some knowledge about the exact stat values you want to strive for. I think people understand the theory behind how cast on crit works but maybe don't have a mental picture of what that translates to stat requirement wise. I know there are many excellent guides out there and I would defer to them where possible. I want to crunch some numbers for you guys to digest but I apologize in advance for any inaccurate information (feedback welcome).

I just want to make it clear: I'm not saying these stats are what you need to have to have fun with your character. These are the ideal conditions for you to keep in mind as you play/craft, please take that into consideration as you will need to improvise, which is half the fun.

u/S1rTob1 originally inspired me to play this build and learn the math. Here is his guide (with an excellent video)

Here is a Sample PoB

In my opinion, there are 5 key stats you want to optimize to a science when playing CoC FR:

  1. Cooldown
  2. Attack Speed
  3. Crit Chance
  4. Max Cold Resistance (and spell block)
  5. Mana Cost

Trigger rate is derived from a combination of crit chance, hit chance, and attack speed.

Cooldown:

The existing explanations for cooldown on CoC are very thorough. I will completely defer to this.

All that I will add is that you need to get at least 52% cdr and in my opinion the easiest way to do it is to get:

  • Awakaned Cast On Crit to level 5 (22%)
  • + gems on chest (skin of the lords etc.) (3%)
  • +3 crit passive mastery (9%)
  • elevated shaper cooldown boots or belts (15-20% roll, min 18% assuming woke coc level 9)

for a total of (52%)

Do whatever works for you.

Goal is gem level 9 with 18% on boots, or level 10 with 15%

Attack Speed:

You want to hit exactly 10.1 attacks per second with cyclone.

Cyclone APS =

base attack speed *

increased attack speed *

more attack speed *

action speed modifier *

  1. Base attack speed is your weapon attack speed, probably a dagger. You probably want a very high base attack speed.
  2. Increased attack speed is the sum of all your % increased attack speed rolls on cluster jewels and gear etc. They are all additive with each-other.
  3. Cyclone has an inherent 3.0 more multiplier for attack speed
  4. Tailwind provides actions speed modifier. This is 1.1 multiplier with 25% increased effect of tailwind.

Sample attack speed. 23% tailwind effect, 1.86 aps dagger. 64% increased attack speed from flasks and gear

64% increased attack speed. Be warned, Onslaught from boots and some mods are conditional upon kills. You need a permanent source for bossing.

This guide addresses attack speed with a lower cooldown breakpoint

Crit Chance

There are far far too many ways to cap your crit chance, do whatever you deem fit. One common option is to get cooldown on belts and run brittle eldritch implicit on boots (very strong).

Consider:

  • using 2 crit medium clusters
  • diamond flask + crit chance roll.
  • stack power charges where possible.
  • Watcher's eye zealotry crit chance
  • Bottled faith
  • Implicit on rings/dagger
  • Gem qualities, alternate qualities
  • Assassin's mark
  • Templar glove implicit

Here are some common sources of crit chance as a starting point based on the POB provided:

On the note of Sniper's Mark vs Assassin's Mark: I know some giga chads are using bottled faith and sniper's mark, but overall its less damage than more projectiles from dying sun, plus dying sun is more consistent. Sniper's mark just looks better for POB dps since other stats are easier to mask.

Max Cold Resistance

You want to achieve 90% max cold resistance for Melding of the Flesh effect.

  1. Base + 75%
  2. Aegis + 5%
  3. Purity of Ice level 23 + 5% (get from +2 aura gloves or somethin)
  4. Chest/Gloves implicit eldritch +3%
  5. 25% increased effect of Non-Curse Auras at minimum +2% (easily gotten from the tree or militant faith)
  6. Alternatively as mentioned by JekoJeko, you can also run an impossible escape for imbalanced guard which gives you +3% max res and a lot of armor.
  7. For the ultimate high end setup, get 20% increased effect of non curse auras on the chest exarch implicit. Then get purity of ice effect as the eater implicit. This gives as much as 3% max res mod so it’s overall better since you’re getting general aura effect. This is very strong.

Lvl 23 Purity of ice gives +5 and inc. aura effect gives +2

I reduced aura effect on militant faith to calculate the minimum aura effect needed for 90% max res in the above setup.

high end setup with level 23 total purity of ice. No chest max resistance (or gloves)

High end Purity of ice aura effect and max res. 85% increased aura effect minimum at level 23.

Spell Block

This is straightforward, you want 75. You can either get this from tree nodes or from Divergent Tempest shield and Ashes (or a combination). Glancing blows covers most of your spell block and attack block anyways.

Divergent tempest shield gives additional block chance.

Mana Cost

There are unfortunately not many options here. You need to get your FR mana cost as low as humanly possible.

  • increased effect flask for mana cost
  • as well as -18% cost from enchants on boots.
  • To work around flask uptime, you can consider replica conquerors efficiency
  • or a larger -mana cost roll from elreon veiled mods
  • or you can try to gain flask charges when you're hit to sustain
  • Unfortunately its true that mageblood solves alot of problems
  • You can take mana cost reduction points on the tree. As noted by JekoJeko9 the insightfullness passive node can help with mana costs.

High end mana cost setup

Notes**Edit: Accuracy for FR CoC is covered the weapon craft Hit's Can't be evaded. Other builds may need high level precision + accuracy rolls.*
