No one can know what is going to get nerfed in 3.21... but I am pretty sure that Cast When Damage Taken is going to get the same treatment as all other trigger supports did. Wardloop is a fun and interesting playstyle, but I think its going to see the GGG hammer. So how do we replace it?
Enter Cospri's Static Strike Assassin. This build was an absolute BLAST to play. Zoomy, screen shattering mapping and decently tanky and good damage against bosses. The idea here is that static strike has a 3 second buff that strikes enemies around you. These beams are actually considered melee hits, and can trigger spells inside of a Cospri's Malice sword. We scale skill effect duration to get this up to around 8 seconds, then socket a few skills in our 6link and a few in our main hand. BOOM! Folks think I am playing wardloop.
This CoC archetype is so interesting because there is no attack speed to scale. Your beam frequency determines the rate of procs, and you can only scale that through the phantasmal gem quality. There are two different cooldowns for the cospri's and the 6L static strike CoC setup, so you need to find a breakpoint in CDR that is useful for them both. Thanks to my friend ifnjeff (creator of the wacky hydrosphere build that was featured by GGG as build of the week!) for creating a CDR breakpoint grid that you can use to determine the best breakpoints depending on your gem level and how much frequency you have (linked below).
This build was super funky to put together, and I am SURE that there is far more optimizing to do. I tested with no ashes and no squire, this build still obliterates T16 maps. I'm sure people are going to find tons of ways to scale this archetype. Let me know if you find improvements! Cheers!
