HOW TO CONFIGURE THIS PoB CORRECTLY This PoB have been configured to showcase both Curse with Exposure setup and Elemental Resistance Inversion setup via Elemental Mastery. It also breaks down which mechanic is better overall. If you intend to see the dps for the Elemental Inversion setup, please change the Config Set in Configuration and Skill Set in the Skills Tab accordingly. These are appropriately named Elemental Resistance Inversion Also pick the 100 - Elemental Inversion Setup in the Passive Tree If you intend to see the dps for the Curse + Exposure setup, please change the Config Set in Configuration and Skill Set in the Skills Tab accordingly. These are appropriately named Curse + Exposure Setup Also pick the 100 - Curse + Exposure Setup in the Passive Tree ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ELEMENTAL RESISTANCE INVERSION FROM ELEMENTAL MASTERY NODE Elemental Resistance Inversion causes an enemy's elemental resistance to be treated as its negative value on 25% of hits, when allocated through the Elemental Mastery node. For example, Searing Exarch has 50% base elemental resistance. If affected by a +40% map mod, its total resistance becomes 90%. Normally, 90% resistance reduces damage to 10%. > With inversion, on 25% of hits, that 90% is flipped to +90%, increasing damage to 190% (a 1.90x multiplier). > The remaining 75% of hits still treat resistance normally -- dealing just 10% of base damage. This mechanic is powerful against high-resistance bosses, but: > It is inconsistent (only 25% chance) > It becomes less effective if you apply resistance-reducing effects like curses or exposure, which lower the resist before inversion applies. Best used alone, against enemies with naturally high resist, and without curses or penetration. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ MULTI-CURSE SETUP WITH EXPOSURE Curse + Exposure Setup reduces an enemy's elemental resistance through stacking debuffs and passive bonuses. Our sources include: > Elemental Weakness (-30%) > Conductivity (-36%) > Exposure (-15% base), boosted to -18% via Elemental Mastery ("Exposure you inflict applies at least -18% to the affected resistance") For example, Searing Exarch has 50% base elemental resistance. If affected by a +40% map mod, its total resistance becomes 90%. > This results in 94% of base elemental damage being dealt (a 0.94x multiplier). > The setup applies to all hits and scales consistently with penetration, curse effect, and other sources of increased damage. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ WHICH ONE IS BETTER Setup Trigger Rate DPS Multiplier Curse + Exposure 100% 0.94x Elemental Resistance Inversion* 25% of hits 0.55x** * Elemental Resistance Inversion deals 1.90x multiplier Only applies to 25% of hits Remaining 75% hit for 0.10x ** Calculation (0.25 x 1.90) + (0.75 x 0.10) = 0.55x average multiplier Conclusion: Curse + Exposure is clearly better. It provides higher average damage, applies to every hit, and benefits from penetration, curse effect, and other synergies. Inversion is too inconsistent at 25% chance to compete.
