Charles Versallius's Notes
Forbidden Rite returns again, with cat slinging MTX, of course. Had a bit of a downtime between my previous build and next build (expensive meme build), so I decided to make something semi-serious. Also I got my PhD last year so what better way to celebrate than to make a build using infamous PhD shield (Mahuxotl's). I followed the main ideas by DireGray, check out his guide here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwxRSXH3wh8).
Despite the reputation for complexity, Mahuxotl's Machination is simple to understand. The main tech is that it combos with Rakiata's Lethal Pride so 50% of cold/lightning damage is taken as fire and 50% is taken as chaos, so we do not care about cold/lightning resistances. Further, there is +10% max chaos res and +5% max fire res helping greatly with our defenses.
The finishing touches to round out defenses are Doppelganger Guise (up to 40% less physical/chaos damage taken), Ruby Flask (+10% max fire res), Arctic Armour (22% less physical/fire damage taken while stationery) and Immortal Call (lots of phys dmg reduction from consuming endurance charges, which we always get because of enduring composure cluster jewel notable). Finally we get as much phys taken as fire as we can (Lethal Pride, helmet mods, watcher's eye if rich). Combined with Progenesis's life stagger effect and pathfinder's Master Surgeon's insane life recovery, you get a build that is borderline immortal.
We choose poison because it dot caps with minimal investment :) Note that because we don't take any cold/lightning damage, we cant be brittle/shocked/sapped by default, so being immune to elemental ailments isn't strictly necessary. However there are mods like "all damage from monster's hits can shock" which can be quite annoying.
I also went for pops because I hate builds with bad clear, and the explosions combined with poison proliferation helps significantly when mapping. Additionally, I dislike frostblink of wintry blast as a movement skill because it feels a bit sluggish, so I'm using regular frostblink and shield charge here.
pob: https://pobb.in/J_dIlECAcSM6 estimated budget: ~200 divines but Awakened GMP is not needed, I just happened to have one sitting around. Progenesis is also not mandatory to play the build (use magic amethyst flask) but it makes a HUGE difference.
