Hey everyone. I wanted to show you my pure Spectre Necromancer that I've played as my last build in 3.24. It uses both permanent and temporary Spectres to maximize dps. The permanent spectres used are the Primal Crushclaw from Harvest and the Cloud Retch from Redeemer influenced maps. They have a powerful default attack that also has innate cold conversion. This enables damage scaling via Hatred and also allows the minions to inflict chills & freezes which increase minion and player survivability.
Since the PCC has built in aoe clear and a gap-closing ability it's much better for regular maps but is worse against bosses and in T17 maps due to lower single target dmg and higher collision. The cloud retch has less life but has the same powerful default attack and another ability with a long cd that isn't all too relevant for dmg. Since they have less collision they don't block each other as much when fighting single targets which in combination with higher dmg makes them optimal for bossing. The two permanent spectre setups that the build uses are
-
a full range of PCCs for most map-like content
-
a set of Cloud Retch + one PCC (for the inc. cold damage taken debuff) for T17s and Uber bossing.
Raise Spectre of Transience is used to summon temporary Spectres that can introduce Feeding Frenzy and buffs/debuffs or charges into the build. These have to be raised with the regular Raise Spectre skill to show up in your desecrate at some point and a list of useful support spectres can be found in the notes of the PoB. It's not always possible to raise a support spectre that provides more than Feeding Frenzy due to the random nature of Desecrate but it's still a worthwhile addition to the build.
For melee Spectres collision limits how many minions can attack a single target which is especially true for small targets. In retrospect I would say that it's probably optimal to limit the amount of temporary spectres to a single one even though the additional benefits of raising more support spectres seems tempting.
I've done high end maps, (AFK-)Blight, Uber Bosses and Back-to-Basic T17 strategies with this build and while it's far from safe, the build is more than capable of running them.
The following video contains a T17/Uber bossing showcase & a build guide for different levels of investment. There is also additional pure Spectre Necromancer content in the playlist in the description. Enjoy!
